See former OC Shawn Watson fired from PITT.

Not surprising however. Hasn't been too successful since his Colorado days.
Matt Canada didn't leave him much for QBs when he bailed for LSU. Pitt's QB completed less than 50% of his passes even though they rolled him a bunch and tried to keep his throws short and manageable. Was that Watson's fault or was it just the fact that you have to hit on a QB when you recruit guys? I realize he could have brought in a freshman the last cycle to play as a true freshman but man that's tough to do too. They put up over 300 yards of offense in the bowl game but it didn't translate to enough points to win. IMO, Watson is a guy who would probably be a better head coach than he is a coordinator but his offenses at NU put up some pretty impressive numbers. He's a good guy and a friend to Dr Tom so I'm wishing him well.

The twist and turns of a career assistant coach. It's a different lifestyle, that's for sure. It's always fun to see where they end up.

I agree that I think Watson is a better coach and schemer then he probably is as a play caller. He was up and down here, but was given a tough hand. injuries and inexperience in 2009 and 2010. Trying to manufacture offense with Zac Lee and Dontrevious Robinson or a one legged Martinez.

Actually got a chance to spend some time with Wats about 5 or 6 years ago. Incredible offensive mind, unfortunately I think the college game has passed him by a bit as he's a dyed in the wool West Coast guy. He'll find a landing spot somewhere, he's as good as it gets when it comes to coaching quarterbacks.
