Cooper made almost 5 million and is the highest paid college player but would make 16 million next year? That doesn't seem plausible. NIL rates are rising that fast? That is scary. I forgot the BYU kid is getting 11 mil.

How does it not seem plausible? Anybody can give him an endorsement deal. If he returned you don’t thin everything and everyone under the sun would offer him deals?

The wife asked last night my opinion. I think the likelihood of him returning is good. I think the money is not as important but the team he would get drafted by. The Wizards?!?!? Stuck in DC for 4 years!?!?!? I mean yes the money would be good but lets be honest. Do they have a cast of players that would let him shine? Do they have players that would improve his game? Look at Zion...he left after 1 year and got stuck on the Pelicans. I am not saying it wont happen but I think that Duke's GM is gonna try like hell to get him back if that is an option.
I think there is a 0.00001% chance of him returning. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love for him to be back, we would be the biggest story in sports all of next season. Cooper will announce he is going pro well before the draft lottery, which is usually in mid May, so he won't know which team he is going to be stuck with, that doesn't matter.
The problem is that he needs to begin his rookie NBA contract in order to be closer to the 2nd contract which in 2030 could be something like 5 years for $500 million. So unless Duke can offer something like that, I just don't see it happening. I wish the NBA would change the rule on how quickly you can get to the 2nd contract, but this will be the way it is until that happens.

Look, the entire landscape of collegiate sports is in a new world. ANYTHING could happen. But, it would be financially silly for him not to go to the NBA, stay healthy for a few years, and get that second giant contract. Plus endorsement deals. JMHO.
Is this how all these parents can afford to go to every game, home and away?
I always wondered the same thing. Don't these parents have jobs? Don't get me wrong, as a parent, I completely understand and appreciate their dedication, but still!?! Not to mention the travel expenses!
Judging from Scheyer’s post-game remarks about thinking about putting Flagg back in at the end so he could get a singular round of cheers, it sounds like he fully expects Cooper to leave after this year. I also think that the scare everybody (including, Cooper, by the look on his face) got when he got injured in the FSU game, had to have reinforced the notion that your career could end in a moment. Scheyer knows that as well as anybody, having had his own career derailed with his eye injury. I’m not familiar with the details of the so-called “injury insurance”, but I doubt it could cover the entire financial loss that Cooper would suffer if he sustained a career-ending injury. That said, he’s not going to be a pauper, and if they don’t win it all this year, I wouldn’t be shocked if he decided to stay and go for it again next year. Which selfishly I would be very happy about!
