Has to be the mantra from Nebraska fans going forward. Shirts made, put on Twitter for them to see. As fans, we have to not vacate them and stop showing up to games. It has to be a vocal well know effort that the fans are not going to treat them as an afterthought this year.

I hope you all don't think this is too corny. I'm convinced it can save our reputation as a fanbase and Elite destination.

Hopefully, some pundit or those that can spread the word does so!

The first thing that stands out when I watch good teams play D is how many players run to the ball. Half of the team ends up at the ball carrier.

perhaps it would light a fire under some people’s ***’s - the players, coaches, administrators, and boosters - if the lemmings showing up was actually contingent on winning some ******** games

I agree it’s important for fans to not quit on the players, and we need to support them through thick and thin. I expect them to not give up and quit, so fans need to be there with them. The focus of anger needs to be on the coaching, plain and simple.

Having said that, coaches have to make sure they send the message that loafing and quitting will not be tolerated, cus that’s how you lose the fanbase.

Jay Moore, Jay Foreman, Damon Benning had good discussion on Big Red Wrap Up about the state of the team. One of the things that stood out was Jay F’s focus on team unity, cohesiveness, communication, sacrifice, and accountability. The loafing is simply unacceptable, and that cannot be allowed to fester.
The sacrifice topic was interesting- it’s about dedication and putting the team first whether it’s coming in for extra film or work or taking on a block to help a teammate, etc.

Players need to hold themselves accountable, and hopefully Mickey will do the same. He’s talked the talk, but now it’s time to rally the guys who want to be here and go max effort.

Didn’t Frost add Jay Foreman to the staff in some capacity a year or two ago to help with those issues?

I forgot about that, but I think you’re right. There was something like that. May not have been a paid thing?

I’ve not heard much about former player involvement this year, but this team could really use some mentors to come in and help em out.

Sorry, I just don't buy into this theory at all. Don't care what our reputation is as a fanbase.

You must be an old mule. We have generations that have yet to enjoy the true Husker experience and we need to perpetuate it.

40s. I just think our fan base has more than demonstrated their capacity to show up and watch total horse ****. There's a limit. If you want to go, go. I have zero issue with anyone that doesn't want to.

All well said, but when Benning knew what was going on behind the scene as did other media types, and didn’t bring it up to the public, I seriously wouldn’t trust him to report anything. Ex players have a right and a responsibility to give their opinion, but if they with hold the truth, this downfall is on them as much as anyone.

That will show the players! You fit in the same mold that used to write in to the OWH and LJS in early ‘90’s saying to get rid of TO.

Show up for the players and for the program tight wad.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you. Benning did address this topic on the radio, which I found interesting.
(*I have neutral to semi-negative opinion of Benning in general)

He basically said some media may have been aware of several issues but feel like it’s not their place to put on blast, one reason being the audience/fans not being able to handle the truth (A Few Good Men-type a thing).
I think they also have a sense of decorum to maintain reasonably respectful public discussion while a guy is still in charge. It’s the AD’s job to supervise him not the media.
He also said media members were at least at times dropping hints without fully pulling off the covers. There’s also issues of reliability of sources/fact checking standards I’m sure they’re leery of.

Media likes to maintain positive rapport out of fear of losing access and getting cutoff from practices and interviews.

“Even if” they don’t wanna put it in print, I think anyone (media/former players) that connected to the program has the obligation to raise some questions and critique to the AD. An AD should welcome that.

Lmao

We truly suck.

Sports are about winning. Period.

Slogans are hollow when you suck.

These so called boys are paid to play now.

Grow some balls and go win some games.

They are trying, dummy. They had bad leadership. Sure, some blame can go to lack of senior leadership. But, when you are only as good as the weakest link-and that was your head coach-some perspective is needed.

Then why don't you just move on to another team? If you have reached your limit there are plenty of winning teams to support. Ohio State wins. I guess if you really want it smooth and easy you can become a fan of Alabama. I am not telling you what to do, but it seems silly for you to be a fan of and to support a team that puts out "horse ****"

That's a weak comment. How many guys on here are fans of the Vikings who haven't done **** in forever? How about the Browns? A fan doesn't need a reason to follow or support a team, guys do things for their own reasons.

I grew up watching the Boston Patriots, the Baltimore Colts, San Diego Chargers among other NFL/AFC teams, just never liked the pros as much as college.

I've followed NU since 1962, and I've been to maybe 6 games in that time.
I've never been to an NU basketball game, baseball or volleyball game, and I have the time and money to go to any of them, but I'd rather watch on tv.

Like a lot of us here, I've seen NU be so good in the 90's, at times it looked like NU would never lose again. Now, they've shown they can get beat by anyone. I'm still gonna watch their "horse ****" effort and results and not gonna apologize to anyone. If I want to ***** about watching a horse **** product, it comes at no cost to anyone.

We are in the midst of unraveling a tradition that hooked a few generations of Nebraska men and women. I'll watch their sorry *** again when they line up against Indiana next week. I'll hope they play well and can find a win, but two decades of horse **** football says they may find a way to lose.

If we could turn back the clock 60 years the mindset and attitude I just outlined was probably similar. All it took was Devaney to take over the talent from a lousy coach and begin to build a football machine. It's a helluva longshot, and not likely to happen. Either way, I'll still hold out hope that a return to relevancy and maybe Top 10-20 status is still available.

In the days of the NIL, anything is possible. Not likely, but possible. It's hard to imagine NU spending so many million dollars to upgrade facilities and not be trying their *** off to find THAT GUY, whoever it is, if he even exists, to come in here and build something that can lead to gaining some national respect that we all used to take for granted.

LOL, I’m not telling you what to do? You are literally telling me what to do. I’m not moving on to another team, and I’ll be a fan however I feel like . You sound like a Johnny Super Fan that likes to feel like you’re special.
