I have the guarantee for a great game between Florida and Oklahoma. Florida's offense becomes as good as Oklahoma's offense AND Oklahoma's defense becomes as good as Florida's defense. Would have to be a pick'em game in Vegas.

I don't think it's a given yet that it will be Florida. Let's say that Auburn plays Bama tough in the Iron Bowl, but loses by a touchdown or two. And Florida loses next week to Florida State, and then gets smashed by Bama. I think there is a chance it could be Auburn, because they would compare pretty well to Florida.

Ole Miss sure laid an egg today, getting drubbed by Vandy. The East actually can beat the West a little. Florida's win over LSU was pretty big. You may be right. They may be in the Sugar, even if they win the SEC CCG, which is very unlikely.

But I think the Sugar Bowl gets to take whomever they want. Auburn might be more attractive, depending on game results of the next two weeks.

It can't be UTenn. It is who the second best and second most attractive team in the SEC is. If Florida beats Florida State this week, and then doesn't get embarrassed against Bama, then they'll be the Sugar Bowl SEC team. But if they lose to the Fourth best team in the ACC, or worse, and then get smoked by Bama, which is pretty likely, then if Auburn holds up decently against Bama, then they'll be the second place team in the West behind Bama, and be more attractive, perhaps by more than a little. A&M faded. LSU faded. Ole Miss is barely breathing. Arkansas lost to Auburn by more than five touchdowns. Auburn beat LSU. Auburn has two conferences losses with Bama likely to make that three. They have three total losses, so they are likely to be 8-4.

My guess is that LSU beats A&M. The winner of LSU v A&M will be tied with Auburn if those Tigers lose. If it's LSU, they'll be 7-4 having lost to Auburn who'll be 8-4. If A&M somehow beats LSU, then they'll be tied with Auburn and beat them.

But A&M since they lost Trevor they blew a big lead and lost to Ole Miss. They lost to Miss State who is like last in the West. If FLorida beats FSU, they should be in. But if not, then they'll likely be two 8-4, 5-3 teams in the west who've played a tougher schedule.

Is it just me or does anyone else hate conference/bowl alliances? Plaino lays out perfectly the problem with it.

A potentially unattractive SEC opponent for OU/OSU...

Why can't we have the play offs and let the bowls be used to make the best match ups possible?

I was called an unrealistic idiot when I suggested such things...

Uh, we moved up to 7 in the CFBP rankings. Michigan or Ohio State will drop out of contention next Saturday. Washington could easily lose to the Pirate or in their CCG. Other things need to happen, but we are certainly not out of it.

Well, you were right when you made the suggestion, but really you should be use to being called names by now. LOL It would blow for an 10-2 OU team to play a 8-4 SEC team in the Sugar, but I bet Plaino has it pegged right.

I don't think a 10-2 OU team will be in the Sugar Bowl, a 9-3 aOm will. OU will play #1 Alabama in the Peach Bowl...

OU might be healthy and be better able to defense a pro offense than a spread offense by then. Mike Stoops can defend pro style offenses.

We don't see that type of offense in the BigXII. That was his excuse against Houston and tOSU. So I have no doubt, Mike Stoops will not have an answer for Whatever offense lines up against OU. The guy is a Moron, plain and simple.
