Flo keeps talking about us almost being maxed out points wise. While I agree we might not have as much room for growth as some schools I still see a two or three weights were there is real potential to move up big time.

One thing is for sure we have a hell of a dual team.

Yeah, definitely top dual team, IMO.

I see Pic sliding into the top 6 by the end of the year, and Schafer is definitely a bright spot compared to what it looked like at the beginning of the season. All the others look pretty accurate.

You always have a few guys from schools that you do not see slipping in to be AA. Those guys are generally not the ones to beat the Retherford, Nolf or Nickal's of the world, but move into the 3-8 spots. I think that is where we are vulnerable. If we get Joe Smith back we have 10 legitimate AA candidates. I also think many people are underestimating the bonus points that Kaid Brock and Chandler Rogers can put up.

Yeah, I was looking at a comparison and prediction for Brock vs ??? (someone ranked really close to him) and it was picking Brock to win by TF. I didn't believe/understand why so I went to check his results from the past 2 seasons....didn't realize he bonused as much as he did.

I don't quite see it that way. At 125 our preseason ranking would translate to a very small point total and there is a very good chance he will be a top 5-6 guy.

Preseason HWT ranking and projected points were essentially zero and he just beat a top 5 guy and has AA potbetial.

Brock is another who will likely improve their preseason ranking by several spots.

That is some strong upward mobility without getting into bonus potential of a handful of our wrestlers.

You don't see it the way I said or Flo? Sounds like we're on the same page. 125, 133 and HWT could still have some big jumps.

I think their main point is we don't have as much room to move as the other schools that we will be competing with for a title. Right now it looks like we are big favorites, but that is not the reality.

Yea sorry flo. Agree with your post. Pretty good upward mobility at a few weights and some solid bonus potential as well.

last time I checked we had wrestled two matches. Season has just started. We are ranked #1 but I think Penn State is still the team to beat. We will know more after Reno. I like our chances but this will be a horse race and early rankings are always suspect. We do not know the extent of Joe's injury at this point and whether he wrestles before the end of the year I would say is 50-50. If it turns out that he can not wrestle we may be trailing in the polls after Reno.

Well sure if Joe doesn't wrestle this year that changes everything. I'm not even arguing we are the favorites or really care where we are ranked right now. I just disagree we are maxed out in the rankings. 125, 133 and HWT still have a potential for big moves up. Of course, PSU might have more room to move up but we still have 30% of our lineup that could add a lot of potential points to our score.

Air Thurman I agree with you that the polls do not know reflect what we believe we will be ranked at individual weights come March. I see potential leaps with Pic at 125, Kaid at 133 and
Schafer at 285.There does not appear to be anyone that can replace Joe at 157 and since he is ranked 3rd if he does not wrestle we lose a lot of points and we will need all of the above leaps to stay even. I am not pessimistic about Joe and I really have no inside information on his injury but it is worrying to me that he is not able to wrestle yet and apparently this is a nagging injury that keeps him from coming close to making 157.

I like John's solution of him getting well before he wrestles this year. I would hate it that he has to redshirt, but we need him fully well to compete this year. Low AA points or round of 12 points just are not enough for us to win it this year. Besides low or no points would be a big disappointment to Joe.

Joe is going to wrestle this season, if it takes him through December to get ready so be it. Lets see the big picture and don't worry about a dual or tournament early in the season!

Glad you are so confident Dr. Tognetti.
