No one cares outside a handful of people about TUās womenās basketball. No negative stories, graduate players and coach is probably safe.
In 2017 it would appear it was less than $144,000. I could be wrong though.
The womenās team has been bottom feeders forever that canāt draw flies to
their games. Best to keep Mossman and reduce her salary $ 25,000.00 since
sheās going nowhere .
No one is going to womenās games outside of 4-5 programs around the country lol
No need to fire her unless she is in the last year of her contract. WBB isnāt a revenue sport at Tulsa. No reason to cost ourselves money when making a change is almost guaranteed not to make us money.
In menās basketball, a change could mean more fans, more success and higher earnings for the school in the form of NCAA bids, better TV performance, and more exposure at large.

Actually she had been a college head coach before at Arkansas and I think Kansas State.
Firing Mossman, Haith, and Montgomery won't accomplish anything until the culture changes at the University.
They allowed the most successful coach in the modern era (Bargfeldt) the leave for an assitant coaching job at OSU over a locker room/facilities upgrade. An upgrade that would have given us a chance to host a regional and get out from under OU's shadow.
We dont want to win. An overall culture of mediocrity has settled in and until the whole house is cleaned just firing the dust mites aint gonna accomplish much.

I wouldn't go that far. I would say it's more like Haith....we play not to lose.
But regardless how we look at it, we need people in all the positions that matter who want to win.
Starts with the university President. Lawless wanted to win, so much so, he fired an extremely popular football coach. The next hire was awful but we were all taken in by Burns. But the university immediately went to trying to put winning teams and facilities together. Stead tried to continue that upward momentum.
The fact that we let a coach who perennially had his teams ranked in the top 25 nationally and literally inches away from a super regional berth because they wouldn't commit to him an upgrade to the facilities that would be commensurate with the program he built. That's just stupid (BTW, ORU's former head baseball coach, Rob Walton, did the same thing, leaving ORU to be the pitching coach at OSU simply because ORU made it impossible to recruit ball players [baseball relies a lot on JUCO players]. I hope Chrissy can keep the squad at the level we've come to know. And BTW, OSU is a top 10 program...something they haven't really achieved before, many times being the 3rd best D1 team in Oklahoma. Bargfeldt as an assistant has paid immediate dividends for the Lady Pokes.
Some of us were absolutely turned off by Burns from the start.
There wasnāt an infusion of money in 2000. it didnāt come along until we bottomed out and it was time to piece together what it took to hire Kragthorpe in 2003. The real money didnāt happen until 2006-07 when the silent phase of the 2008 renovation drive began.
Weve got enough money to make those sports competitive. We can even raise pretty nice amounts for special purposes. What we canāt do is have a couple more years of paying $2 million to Stead and BB not to do their jobs while the stock market, rankings, and enrollment dip. Firing people sets us up for that.

Maybe for football there wasn't, but remember, Lawless got the Reynold's Center built, the Delaware athletic complexes and student fitness center projects, etc. all put TU athletics closer to an equal footing with conference peers of the time. The new weight room in the Reynold's Center meant not having to share a weight room with the general student population. The track and soccer complex meant not having to go to Roger HS or somewhere else for track practice. Soccer could play on a proper field and not on awful turf and a narrow pitch. As on of my son's HS coaches says, soccer should never be played on a football field. He blasted OSSAA 3 years ago for having Union and Jenks play on the football field at Sand Springs instead of trying to play at Broken Arrow's new complex or at TU.

Reynolds Center and weight room were 1998 openings. Soccer stadium was 2003. The Burns years were a fundraising desert.
But the entire west side of Delaware kicked off before that and started with Vince's push for a state of the art tennis facility. He was flat out told no by Lawless as it wasn't a priority as much as student housing and upgraded classroom facilities. This was 1998-99ish. Vince went out on his own and that kickstarted everything on the west side of Delaware. I remember the convo with the Director of Housing at the time who said you had to have considerable leverage and backing to pull off something like that and apparently Vince had Mike Case and his $$$ to leverage.
Huffy, you are more in the know on donors and tendencies and how TU seeks money for specific campaigns....I only get the postcards now...but why do we not see more local corporate dollars? TU seems to have connections to some of Tulsa biggest companies and yet we seemingly see very little in the form of corporate dollars from places like QT, American, BOK, etc.
