Hope they are on our home schedule next year. Usually don’t play every team home and home.

3 keys to win any game...

Transition Defense (force the offense to work for everything);
Defensive rebounding; and
Make your FTs (especially the front end).

Not difficult. All 3 require EFFORT far more than basketball skill.

Goldin was FAU’s Achilles heel. That guy can’t shoot for anything. 1-5 from the stripe and his defense was detrimental. That last shot by FAU should have been a last second on the shot clock shot. They left too much time for a surging Aztec team

At least SDSU won this one on on a last second field goal instead of a last second foul call.

Also, they needed Martin (#15) to take the shot. He was clutch in the second half.

Actually...
HUGE mistake not having Goldin in the game after FAU took their last Timeout. It would have given them more space to drive the paint and it would have given them a better chance to secure a game winning offensive board.
That said... FAU lost the game around the 7 minute mark when they gave up around 8 boards in about 2 1/2 minutes.

FAU pissed themselves... it happens. But, that was the worst choke job I've seen in recent memory - in any sport.

You get the opponents to miss 4 free throws but let them get the rebound on each miss. Barkley is right. That’s just bad fundamentals of basketball.

UConn has just been running rough shot through This tournament
St Mary's and Miami were the closest in score. Even though Miami was the closest, it looked like an NBA team tearing up Miami. The only time Miami really got anything easy, was off of breakaway turnovers.

No more Florida teams.

Still hoping for SDSU to beat the Con Men.

I thought I read somewhere that their coach just signed an extension....
Yeah, but that extension isn't worth the toilet paper it's written on. Unless it was written in that the school gets the entirety of the contract in a buyout. If the contract was for ten years and a full buyout,(1M/year) maybe some of the programs would balk. But I figure a lot of programs wouldn't balk at 6 or7M. I haven't seen how long the contract was for even. We just signed a new contract with one or two coaches over the years, and somebody just came right behind and bought it out.

If the university can make the money back in ticket sales and tournament winnings, the university will buy out a contract. no doubt

Yeah, FAU will be fine. There is most definitely a high $ buyout that decreases a bit each year he stays and there might even be a clause that says if one of these 5 schools (as specified by the coach) wants to hire him the buyout isn't as steep. This is probably to prevent schools like GaTech from coming in and just buying out a coach when it is likely at best only a marginal step up from FAU with the current state of the program in mind. Now if Duke or UNC come calling, or Kansas, that's a different story.

UConn has now won over 20% of the national basketball championships over the last 25 years. Amazing stat.
