I'm driving home from work last night around 7:30ET and Mullen is on ESPNU radio talking with Herbstreit.

I put the kids to bed, grab some dinner and turn on ESPN and the crew of talking heads is fairly unanimous about State having the best chance of anyone in the SEC to take down Alabama - although no one actually thinks we can do it.

I drop the kids off at school this morning at 7:30ET and turn on the radio (still on ESPNU) and Mullen is talking to McElroy and Taylor. Interesting notes - Some assistant recruiting guy at State first noticed Fitz's film and Hevesy was the first coach to visit his school, talk to his coach, watch him play and invite him to our camp. So, Hevesy recruited Fitz. Just more fodder for the Hevesy can't recruit storyline.*** Also, Mullen sounds as loose and confident as ever.

Good times.

So you're arguing that Hevesy is a good crooter because he landed us a 2 star that nobody else knew about?**

A very small part of my overall point, but since you brought it up....

He's a good recruiter because he identified a kid at one practice that had the potential to be the best QB in the SEC. A kid that rarely threw in games and had no exposure. He was then smart enough to recommend that we bring that kid to camp and give him a chance. Hevesy could have said - he'll never make it, he's too raw, he's not worth our time. Identifying talent is a huge part of recruiting.

SEC starting QBs with higher recruiting rankings (yet not as good as Fitz on the field in 2017) that we could have wasted our time recruiting and the fans all would have been so excited about signing a five or four star kid:

Jacob Eason
Shea Patterson
Austin Allen
Jake Bentley
Danny Etling
Jalen Hurts
Drew Lock
Quinton Dormandy
Kyle Shumer
Jarret Stidham
Malik Zaire

I'd say that makes Hevesy a GREAT recruiter. Much better than whoever recruited that #1 overall 5* recruit to Auburn who never broke into the starting lineup and quit the team last week.
