I have to say that my favorite dude on the team in yesterday’s game wasn’t any of the top players. They played great against a sh$t team and that was good to see.

But it gave me hope for our future to see Kade Pietrzak playing with his hair on fire and flying all over the place. His safety was fantastic. Love his motor. I also love the fact that he is from North Dakota. I don’t know why that is, but I just do.

I also loved what I saw from Mozee, Quinn Clark, and Lateef. Again, it gives me hope because it shows we have some depth in our skill position players.

And if I could give out a million dollars to my favorite coach it would be Ekeler. Lordy Lordy, what a difference a year makes.

I want to shout out Heinrich Haarberg. This dude has totally changed what he does. Yes, he can be better, but he is ours and he has tried so hard.

He has changed his body to whatever Nebraska needed him to be... He doesn't get enough credit for that.

On a tangent - Bringing back Ekeler was clearly one of the missing pieces.

Yes the depth of good talent has increased we aren’t the type of program anymore where if one certain player got injured that the season would crash. Now RB spot is still shaky after E J but not like we would go winless without him.

Mozee looked very good. Broke tackles on virtually every play. Nelson looked good too.

True but they still have some guys. NIL no doubt cost them their best players. IF their WRs hadn’t dropped 9-10 passes, the score would have been closer. Their WRs probably cost them a couple of TDs and gave us 3 extra possessions.
Sure maybe. But that was a buzz saw last night. Husker home night games are becoming disruptive. D fence was flying around and smacking people. That gets into the head of opposing players. It wasn’t just because some dropped passes.

That is a bit of hyperbole. One completion on a drive doesn’t mean the rest of the drive would have been successful nor does it mean that they would have scored TDs on those drives. The dude was 7 of 21, he wasn’t close to accurate enough to be 16 or 17 for 21. I think the 9 or 10 drops is an exaggeration. I think the official number was 4.

Kade looking like a young Wistrom. There's a reason many big-name schools wanted him.

Encouraging to see so many young potential stars. I was super impressed with Lateef.

WR room looks to be majorly upgraded. Yes, Dylan was playing pitch and catch, but that wouldn't look so easy last year or with Sims or Amart.

I don't remember #93 playing much against Cinci. Wonder if they said f it, we need a pass rush, forget how young he is.

DR/Hunter combo looks like it's going to be deadly.

Lateef probably impressed me most. Get him in again next week. Those blowouts are so important for building a program.

I don't think we want to rely on the opponent's receivers dropping multiple passes each game.

I liked all of the young players. Our second and third teams were much better than Akron. They were moving the ball at will and kept up the shut out. I think there are many potential future starters from those groups.

Riaola, Johnson, Lateef and all 100 receivers that caught passes.

Offensive line was very disappointing with their opposing goal line performance.

I was at the game and watched the replays. Time after time his receivers had the ball hit them in the hands and they didn’t catch it. It cost them first downs and most likely points. You’re right that there’s no way to be sure that the drives after the drops would have ended in points. That said, the probability of scoring most definitely was reduced by the drops.

I don’t know where you’re getting the drops stat from. I’m working from memory. There were multiple times where I thought it was good D that caused the incompletion only to see a replay that showed the ball hit both hands of the receiver. Tough catches maybe but still catchable balls. Michigan and PSU will make those kinds of catches.

The other factor that those drops contributed to was the number of possessions we were able to squeeze points out of due to premature endings of drives. Most of the drops would have resulted in first downs.

Without a doubt Mozee is levels better than Nelson. If he takes care of the football, he will be way more than a capable backup to EJ.
I liked them both. Nelson is workable. Mozee was impressive. They had a helluva time getting him to the ground.

One thing Akron had was some run stuffers in the middle. We exploited some of those same guys with some outside zone runs at times. My goodness, just about anybody from this board could have run for a TD on that one Ives TD. Akron had a couple of DTs who had to be at least 350lbs.

Was extremely happy with TJ Lateef. Mentioned him last week and the difference having a mobile QB could make. He showed exactly what I was talking about and hoping/expecting to see.

Like I said I love Dylan and am extremely glad he's here. I just favor a more mobile guy at this level because he gives DCs fits. Especially true dual threat guys. I'd never trade accuracy for athleticism but when the accuracy is somewhat close give me the athletic guy.

NOW that outta the way Dylan is making this **** look so easy. His poise and ability to read a defense at his age is crazy. Can't wait to see us if we continue getting better. As far as TJ goes we will have to fight like he'll to keep him. I'll just say it now I'd be shocked if Dylan, TJ, and Trae all stayed here for the duration of their college career. I hated to say it but is what it is....

Number 93 freshman...Great damn job. That Dakota boy looks like the real deal. 95 transfer from portal looked pretty damn good as well and hopefully worked his way into some more pt. Number 5 looked better last night as well. Hopefully the DL just keeps improving.

Secondary again looked pretty good. I love the fire and intensity Singelton plays with. He's a tone setter back there. Guthrie looked better also. Good to see Benning flying around also.

Number 15...he's legit. Great to see 40 out there as well. Needs ro get a bit stronger but he Flys around.

Number 33 on another note...I just don't see it. Didn't when they recruited him, didn't last week, and didn't this week. Just seems slow to react and small and unathletic. He sticks out for the wrong reasons so far.

Offense..loved the WRs, Nelson looked good, Mozee is slippery as hell. 44 will be very good. Better than the guys who went to the portal and the NFL already.

EJ was doing EJ...gotta love that kid.

Feel good Saturday. Let's do it again next week and them lock in on MEECHIGAN.

I think Mozee is better in space. I don't think he's better behind center as a pure RB. But I think he (Mozee) is so slippery in space and hard ro tackle.

9-10 passs ? Thats a stretch. Just because the ball touches your hands in some way doesn’t equal a drop.

Talent identification across the board is much better than the past 10 years but QB and WR give me a lot of confidence for the future. Keep Lateef and Trae and the outside talent will follow just like they have for Dylan. Quinn Clark looks like a future starter. Hunter and Barney are only sophomores. Nice to actually have confidence in those two position groups for a change.

I felt the failed 4th and goal was all on the coaches. Dumb play, fooled nobody.
Those 4 plays altogether were pretty bad.
Akron sold out on the middle, and left the sides wide open, which we eventually exploited later in the game.

Maybe it's the post game euphoria, but I am 100% drinking the kool-aid on Mozee now. I already thought the kid showed a ton of promise. And yes, it's Akron blah blah blah.

But some guys just move in a certain way. It immediately stands out when you see it - regardless of level of competition. Mozee was moving in a way last night that immediately triggered that "hey wait a minute now"... feeling. Not the kind I get very often.

Again, could just be chugging the metaphorical drink. But I think Mozee could be someone very, VERY special.

Kade Pietrzak looks like a very instinctual football player. It was great to see him go full speed with little to no hesitation when he was in the game. Will be fun to see him develop the next few years.

In general its starting to feel like we really do have quite a few solid weapons on offense.

Anxiously excited to see how this team stacks up against Michigan. The atmosphere should be electric... wish we could be bumped to the night game but 230 gives the fans enough time to get going.

another benefit in raiola is we’re getting top recruits because he’s a 5 star future nfl qb. He’s helping build our program. Even if the offense was better with lateefs mobility, if we want to keep building our talent level around the qb, Raiola is our guy until he goes pro or graduates. It’s good to know we have a stud to go in if he gets injured. Lateef came in with confidence and didn’t seem like a freshman playing his first game under the lights in Lincoln.

We didn’t just hire his dad for his recruiting chops. At the time that went down I thought “man they really want that kid”. Listening to his dad and other people talk about his dad, I get that pop is probably going to climb the coaching ranks but…

To a certain extent, I think Nebraska is baiting that for later in the season with the same formation. If they got it, great, if they didn't, it would open up something to the outside against someone where we will NEED that play.

I'm not advocating starting TJ over Dylan or even a QB controversy. When I speak on mobile QB that's just a personal preference. Dylan is balling out and I'm not expecting anyone to beat him.

I'm not really sure "building our talent level" around the QB would take a back seat if said QB was great. Be that Dylan, TJ, Dayton, or Trae. If he's balling out I think the QB and coaches could sell come here and be great.

Agreed TJ looked like he belonged and it's great to look like we have someone on deck who could hold it down God forbid something happened to Dylan.

As far as this year goes it's a win/win. Now it's a matter of keeping the kid around I think lol.

Under the radar very good player. No. 1 guy out of ND, considered a top 200 player out of HS, but he may be better than his ratings suggest.
