how many felt about this season when it started. With the exception of the wildly optimistic, most were hoping for continued improvement in league play and winning over 50% of our games. Post season hopes were there, but really pretty muted with the NIT looking like the apex. All this with the concerns of Eugene leaving to boot.
Well, just about everyone's hopes have already been realised. This is really important! Yes, the post season is still unsettled, but we are still in it.
With our success, we have also seen our weaknesses even more vividly since so many of our losses are close. Any time you can look at a game and quickly point to a few things that would have changed the outcome, you are also seeing the overall improvement in this team. Not much anyone can say after a blowout.
So now we see fans nitpicking players and the coaches. Maybe this is the nature of all fans but one still has to look at the big picture and admit that we have ALREADY had a great season. Best part is that it isn't over yet and who knows how it all ends up.

I popped in on the San Diego State forum and found more than a few posts blaming this weekends loss on the refs, the bench, dumb coaching, and bad point guard play (as well as the raising of the conference banner). And they are 26-1!

You don't look back on the season and judge it until it's over. As of this moment, how I thought we would do in October is simply irrelevant. Right now, we're a team that has looked like an NCAA team for weeks and now looks like it needs another win or two to hang in there. So if we want to be anxious or troubled, that's fair, and I bet 95 percent of the anxious and troubled people will, in mid-April, say what a great step forward this year was and how much fun it was to watch and how much better we did than we thought.

But not until it's over.
