Fan mentality for CU

How will fan mentality be for the CU game? Everyone was so pumped up for the first game. Does that die down a bit? Or do you think people will be even more jacked up since they had to wait, plus the fact it is Colorado. If we want to win this game, we need the fans to be crazy.

More jacked up, it was crazy last night. Old ladies and men were on their feet shouting last night. It was loud there and people were pumped.

Less...

It is just human nature.

1. It is a 2:30 game
2. So many people went "all out" for this first game.
3. Student section is always a bit less into non-night games. I am guessing that many frats spent a lot on the first game and so it will be tamer this weekend.

It will still be great, no doubt, but it will be less amped up.

Have you ever gone out to a bar with friends and just had a ******* amazing time, everything clicked, the drinks were flowing, everyone was in a great mood, you talked with hot girls, got digits...you name it.

Then the next weekend you try to recreate it? You try going to the same bar, you try getting the same exact group of friends but that never totally works out...you try making "Awesome Night the Sequel" but it just isn't the same. Still fun...but not as amazing.

Memorial stadium is going to amped imo. Its CU for chrissakes - maybe not the best way to start but friggin hell no need to go overboard here. Frost is here for a long time the Akron game will just be a footnote in his time here.

The players will be ready for CU and CU now has no idea what is waiting for them

I agree with you to a point, but it’s CU we are facing. If it were Mcneese State I agree whole-heartedly, more subdued. But I think with CU coming to town, the sequel just might be as good as the original.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part...

Yeah, I see what you mean. I does help that it is CU, no doubt about it.

Wrong analogy. Change your great night out to all the bars were closed.

No player from CU has ever experienced Memorial stadium. It's not like playing in the big house. It's a crazy, explosive, very intimidating atmosphere. Outside of coach Hagan, coach Ambrose, and coach Chev, the CU staff itself is unaware as well. There is no venue in the Pac 12 that compares.

I think people will be nuts...the anger from missing the first game, seeing the team take the field and not get a single play, plus CU, even if people weren't at the Akron game, they were trying to watch it on t.v and are still angry. Some fans , like me, haven't cared for 5+ years...I went back and tried to catch up on the team from 2012 to 2017 and thought, man we had some good players but our coaching staff made 9 wins the maximum outcome. So, many are way more excited than normal.

Given the fact that Nebraska football hasn’t ever really been the same since that 2001 game at CU, it all makes sense now. Paired with near constant lightning bolts filling the sky yesterday and Colorado officially becoming the first game of the Scott Frost era? Suddenly the symbolism becomes clear: next Saturday represents the long awaited exorcism needed before finally returning this program to greatness.

I think our fans will be up for it.

I would really like a torrential downpour and the return of the fumblerooski next Saturday to go with our true freshman QB, but that may be asking for too much (especially since the NCAA won't change the rule in the next 6 days). :D

This... Washington is one of the toughest environment to play in, I’ve been there twice and it is deafening....
Yeah, kind of. Oregon can be pretty rough too. Oddly enough, Folsom is probably one of the most raucous in Pac 12 country when the team is good (see 2016). I don't think either Oregon nor Washington is anything like Memorial stadium. It's just a different type of crazy.

I’ve been to Eugene and Boulder and Eugene had their moments last year and was loud but I’ve been to Seattle twice ( 97,2012) and Husky stadium is the loudest stadium I have been in with noise bouncing off the top over hang on the east and west sidelines near Lake Washington...

Most scenic stadiums I’ve been to are Husky studum and Folsom field in Boulder the Rose Bowl would be third but the seating in that stadium sucks..

I think CU walks into a buzz saw next week.

Also, don't lose track of what CU is. They went 2-7 in conference last year. They played great against CSU but CSU is really...really bad. I'm sure they've improved a little with a returning starter at QB but offense wasn't their problem last year. I expect a lot of scoring and a Husker win.

Went 8-1 in 2016 Laughing. Might be just as much nonsense to use 2-7 as a barometer as 8-1. Not the same team in 2018 at all and offense was certainly a problem in 2017. It just wasn't the biggest problem. Again, I will be shocked if it's high scoring.

You know some things just reek of karma and yes this is another example. How sweet to start the road back against the team where we started our slide. I love it

I am guessing the players want to win this game and the will/craziness of the fans will have little to do with the outcome. It's in the hands of the players and coaches. Fans can make it a little more difficult but we have all seen opposing teams take the fans out of a game.

I for one don’t believe into the notion losing to Colorado in 2001 was the start of the down fall of the program...

Steve Pederson botching up Solich replacement was the start of the slide of our program...

You may be correct but we were riding pretty high at that point and had beat KSU and OU that year no one saw the CU beat down coming - I think this game was the breaking point at least defensively

Well then the 2002 season you could say was the start because we were blown out in Happy Valley lost by 3 TD to a good Iowa St team and lost by 5 TD to K-State and ended the year on a 3 game losing streak finishing 7-7 and not winning at least 9 games since 1968..

Last I saw storms were predicted all week into next Saturday. We'll be lucky to get the CU game in.

Yeah but that is a week out so things will change. What happened last night wasn’t just rain, the NWS was handing out storm warnings in the area like parking tickets in Chicago.

Eugene makes memorial look and sound tame
