How's your shoulder/arm/hand?

Been to 2 other doctors. Had differing opinions. It comes and goes now. For the past 7 days, only 2 of them did I have tingling, the other 5 I was fine. Right now the 2nd doctor (the one I liked and agreed with) says it is an impingement on my ulnar nerve and that he wants me to ice it and take Aleve or Ibuprofen for a couple more weeks. He says if it isn't better by then, they will hook me up to a machine and see how bad its trapped. Said surgery may be the option, which I don't want.

Oh....and the other "doctor" told me that it was "in my head".....needless to say, there was an exchange of words in the room after he said that.

Thanks for asking....

We both know that there isn't anything residing in your head![winking]Sorry, couldn't resist. We golfers go through a lot of injuries.

I had a serious bout of tendonitis in my left arm several years ago. I had spent an entire weekend working on a shelter project on the AT - mostly hauling pieces of it in through the woods and digging for the foundation by hand. I hit the gym several days the week following that, and I woke up on a Friday morning with a squeaking noise when I moved my hand. I went to a doctor who asked me how I thought I injured it, and I laid out that story for him. He told me that I probably shouldn't do the trail stuff any more - not for a while but never again. I told him that was like taking my car into the shop because the left turn signal was broken and having the mechanic tell me that I should only turn right from now on.

I ended up taking a few weeks off and bought a brace to support the wrist while I was working like that when I went back. I've had it come back at times to a lesser degree, but it's been manageable since that first bad issue. I haven't worn a wrist brace in years either. I also switched docs, and I look for docs who have some sort of sports focus in their background. Those folks are much more likely to give you suggestions on how to modify activity than they are to tell you that you have quit things altogether. Mine has given suggestions for working around an arthritic shoulder in the last several years, and I've had far fewer issues with that since.

Missed the beginning as to the ailment being discussed. Sounds like something I have been experiencing for 3-4 months. My little and ring fingers on my left hand are substantially numb. Dr said OK and he thinks it may be a damaged and infected nerve in the left elbow. Please pay the lady up front on your way out.

I assumed the damn thing would go away from concern shown by Dr. Still there and thumb on same side has gotten a bit stiff - nothing smooth when bending thumb. After bending it so far, seems like it unhinges and goes to the other position. Didn't mean to hi-jack. Just asking if problems are similar. And typing on left side is a *****. Little finger cannot distinguish between a, caps lock and q. Ditto feeling with ring finger. Damn, I may have to quit interacting on site if it doesn't resolve itself. Typing some strange words.
