I have been a Kentucky Bball fan for over 20 years and I was wanting to make sense of the last 10 years and I feel like Bobby Cox is best comparison. Great teams, but just 1 title and a lot of missed opportunities.
Yeah, man, I can see the relationship between the two. Makes sense. The Braves should have won more than a single world series during that strong run of division titles.
The last 10 years, the haters get to dance a few times a year and we have fun the other 99% of the time. Now go kick rocks.
The Braves comparison was fine. Why are some of you all getting so pissed about it?

Aside from his infrequent posting or low post count, the comparison of the two teams is still valid.
I find no problem with this comparison at all. Even if I disagree, I can do so without disparaging the OP with childish insults.
I truly hope some people on this board are young. VERY young. At least that would explain some of these remarks. Of course, I tell my kids to disagree respectfully. You know....like adults should do.

The OP has averaged 2.4 posts a year for 11 years. And those posts are always aimed at trolling or inciting the fan base. Isn't this the definition of who the Mods are supposed to be banning?
No it’s not fine. Cox is the most overrated coach of all time. I’m a die hard baseball guy. Cal has never had a team like Cox, and never retained those players year in and year out.
Nah. Can’t compare a sport that determines a champion with a best of series vs a sport with a single elimination, suddent death format.

Again, I'm actually a Kentucky bball fan that has met Coach Cal, have actually read his books, and have utilized his thought process in more than just basketball, which is far more than you can probably say.
This is a legit question and the next logical progression is how can he get out of the rut and not have this type of label when it's all said and done
I typically just read message boards and I post when I feel like it's worth it to do so
that's fair, but i'm not necessarily looking apples to apples with respect to who keeps players, etc., my comparison is merely a results-based one respective to the accomplishments in their sports
Your low post count number basically means that your thoughts, observations, and opinions are worthless. At least that seems to be the message around here.

It doesn’t matter. The comparison isn’t valid. Cox had players juicing, he had a HOF pitching staff, he had a generational player in Jones, he had some of the best defensive players in baseball, he had a lights out bullpen and closer.
When has Cal ever had that? Year in and year out, Cox was set up for a World Series and they made it once. Lol.

Bill Self would be a much better comparison to Cox. If Cox had taken 3 different teams to the NLCS then that would be more like Calipari. If we must use a baseball example I'd say Joe Maddon is closer to Cal
