St.John’s is favored by 24.5 tomorrow over Central Connecticut State. We beat CCSU by 4 and also beat St. John’s by 2. How does that make sense?

its a high spread but I bet SJU beats them by at least 15...also remember we played an exhibition not a real game

CBB is about match ups. That little CCSU guard who gave us some problems is not going to give Ponds or Lovett the same issues. Not because they are better defenders than Corey or Geo or Souf (they aren't) but simply because of the "way" they can defend that kid. As they say in boxing: "Styles make fights".

And while I know this is cherry picking a bit, but from the 16 minute mark of the first half until there were four minutes left in the game (a total of 32 minutes) RU outscored CCSU by 24 points. I don't find the line absurd.

I think RU was something like a 19 point favorite. If we played at St. John's we would be an underdog.

I'd like to think if we play CCSU again we'd win by 20+.

Comparing us to St.John's.......is CCSU going to be able to change defenses like they did against us. Can CCSU spend time in zone vs St. John's?

Now gun to my head I'd take CCSU and the points. Can Mullin get St. john's up for a game like this? My bet would no.

And there is no chance CCSU outrebounds St. Johns. None. As I wrote above, "Styles make fights".

Last year St. John's was a VERY bad rebounding team. There is a chance St. john's loses on the boards. It is possible STJ gets more total rebounds, but CCST rebounds better.

I prefer to point things out that I see and ask if others feel the same? Others make statements as if they are experts. I’m more like Mad dog and less like Mike. Just my style. Sorry if you don’t like the questions?

This response should be pinned at the top of the bball board for the fans who obsess over this transitive sh#t. And no OP, I am not attacking you personally, your thread is fair and understandable. This is more of a big picture complaint of mine and an argument that will most def. come up again this season. RutgHoops is spot on. It's mostly a matchup thing, with a lot of other factors coming into play as well (individual health of players, natural ebb & blow, momentum shifts, chemistry on any given night, home crowd influence or lacktherof, calls by the refs, calls by the head coaches, energy & focus, substitution patterns (good or bad?) and so on and so on. Who played who already is really not one of them.

I️ do feel like the CCSU was more like a 10-12 point win. I️ think their kid hit a half court shot at the buzzer to make it a 4 point win vs. 7 points but I️ would still be surprised if St. John’s wins by 25. I️ don’t bet so it’s not like I️ care. St. John’s and Rutgers played as hard as they could in the scrimmage though which people who weren’t there are not willing to recognize. We both went all out.

Agree on our game against the Johnnies. There was nothing vanilla about that. Label it an exhibition, call it a scrimmage, heck, call it organized pickup for charity. Those who watched it know what they saw with their own 2 eyes. It was a legit all-out game, with both teams going at it and bringing it. It was clear both teams wanted it. In my book, other than it not counting in the win loss category, it was 100% a legit game, no different than CCNY or CCSU... and a more entertaining game at that.

You need to update your iPhone. ( regarding “I”)
I had the same problem and asked my granddaughter what’s up and she told me everyone is having the same problem. Just upgrade... All good... Always ask the young ones, lol.

Our FT shooting tonight at 45%. Not sure how you win games against good teams with that. Cleve St. is not a good team

CCSU had us circled on our calendar after we beat them by 40 last year. Not surprised, they had so many rebounds because it meant MORE to them, they put in more effort. Game ended with a close loss, so they were dejected, not surprised by then the blowout by St. Johns
