Seems that Tate is not a sure thing after all... especially if he has to survive both a runoff with Waller and a general with Hood. Most of his financial support has been because he was the presumed winner. If he shows signs of weakness in the primary, I think a lot of the big donors will start hedging their bets.
I've been surprised at the number of candidates fighting to be the most pro-Trump. That still turns a lot of voters off.

Tate has so much more money than all the rest of the candidates combined that any changes in the allocation of late contributions won't have a huge effect. But he is so universally unlikeable that he's vulnerable. I still think he's the favorite to win, but he's gonna have to win a couple of tough races to do it.

Brent Bailey for public service commissioner. He was my roommate at MSU. Starting long snapper on the football team.

I can't in good conscious vote for a man who looks like Stingrays first cousin on his mommas side.

I kinda think every state office aside from Lt. Gov. ends up being a run-off on the republican side (Hoseman will win that easily). Tate-Waller in a run-off will be really interesting. Who the Foster supporters align with in the run-off (I don’t think that’s a small amount, he could get 15-20% of the vote tonight) will likely determine who wins in three weeks.

The only time the "big donors" are going to stop backing Tater Tot with big bucks is if Waller beats him outright. If there is a runoff between Reeves and Waller (which is presumed that it will be), the Republican powers that be will spend untold millions on advertisements on how bad Waller is. It won't be any more of these nice commercials with Tot's wife trying to convince us how ready he is to be governor because he lives in a home with 4 women.

Tate’s whole “evil liberal” is a tired old trope that you got to think people with half a brain are getting tired of. I don’t know. He seems like a lock as a candidate of yesteryear but with people having numerous resources to actually study up his schtick is lazy. Hood and Waller are basically identical besides the party affiliation.

What's been interesting to me... at least here in Lee County, I'm not sure I've seen the first Reeves sign in someone's yard. But there are Waller and Hood signs everywhere. Just strange that a guy who is supposedly the frontrunner doesn't seem to have any support from normal people. I do see his large signs out at intersections or along the roads... just not in anyone's yard.

I think Hoseman will have a tight race on his hands with Jay Hughes for Lt Gov in the general. We'll see.

If it comes down to Tate and Hood, I believe Hood would win. Tate is just not a very likeable person. I really think the road thing did him in. I said it when it came out and I've stuck by that.

A lot of folks are afraid to let it be known that they back a conservative candidate. My neighbor had his Trump and Reeves signs torn down and his mailbox run over. People are crazy

I’ve seen one Tate sign in a Tupelo yard.
A prominent older businessman said Delbert told him that he felt he could have more of an influence on legislation as Lt governor than actual governor. Makes some sense.
He also said that they were basically obligated to donate certain amounts to Tate’s campaign if they wanted to avoid legislation that would hurt them. Before Waller got in the mix, he said this was probably the first time he was ever going to vote Democrat in a state election.

This is obvious and demonstrably true. Why do you think polls ALWAYS under-estimate Trump support? Because expressing a conservative viewpoint in this country today is dangerous. Either you march in lock-step with the progressives, or you may be attacked, both physically and economically.
