My wife has come down with a sinus infection which she comes down with a few times a year. So she is coughing, has laryngitis, has bouts of chills and hot flashes, not registering a fever. She goes to our doctor's office and gets a sinus cocktail shot and a Z-pack. Pretty standard stuff for her history. Of course they require her to get a Covid-19 test. They give her a letter which says for her to self quarantine until the test comes back. If it is negative she is good to go. She called me from the Doctor's office to give me the news. So I ask what about me? Am I suppose to self quarantine until the test results also? They say no. I won't need to self quarantine unless the test comes back positive.

Guess I am free to spread it until then. I wonder why I think they are all a bunch of idiots?

Not being an ***, but MSU has a better shot of going undefeated and beating Ohio State in the National Title game than you getting sick and dying from Covid. I get the same sickness every year and my wife would not quarantine. She would proceed as usual.

I ain't worried about dying. I am on the side this has all been an over reaction from day one. There should NEVER have been a shutdown. MY point is if you went to the extreme that we did to be safe and basically quarantined everyone, why is an obvious situation where Covid might actually be involved since they decided to test, not require the same reaction? If she has it and it takes them 4 or 5 days to get a result, I can pass it on for 4 or 5 days. Isn't the mantra "better safe than sorry"?

If you had similar symptoms you would have been asked to self-quarantine— of course there are asymptomatic folks.

A friend had to self-quarantine from her son for similar reasons. Her test results were negative.

I think you misunderstood something.

Re: “Better safe than sorry.” I agree with you and I’d think typically doctors would go with what you’ve mentioned.

She is supposed to stay away from you though. I went through similar thing when I was exposed early on. My wife wasn't so she didn't have to.

Why would that matter from this point forward? I have been right by her side up until she got sick. So if she got sick it would taken a few days for her to show symptoms. Therefore I have been exposed unknowingly for a few days. So why would now, that she is sick, make any difference since I have been exposed for a few days already?

I have been home for 5 weeks without ANY hint of exposure. Now that I actually have a hint, it doesn't matter. How does anyone see logic in this situation?

Don’t try to find logic

Anytime soon. In Memphis, the city council is fine with restaurants and bars being open, but are trying to pass legislation that everyone has to wear a mask when off your property, unless you go to a bar or restaurant and few other exceptions. If things are so bad we must wear masks to go to a park, why is it OK to go to restaurants and bars?

Meanwhile in Atlanta, we have 4+ open COVID test centers where you can drive through for a 15-minute COVID test. Two months ago, you had to wait 2 hours in a line full of cars. Today, my wife with a sore throat and cough gets tested (negative). There was one car in front of her, she took the test, and 15 minutes later they walk up to your car and say - no COVID, have a nice day.

We have been open in Atlanta for four weeks.

Have you seen the half-life statistics of the virus in relatively high humidity, sunlight, and 77+ degree heat? It's 1.5 minutes.
