Anyone own or have any experience with these battery lawnmowers? (Sold at Home Depot.)

The reviews are generally good but I'm just leery that it would have sufficient power when the grass gets thick/high. I don't have a huge yard - it generally takes about 30 minutes to mow.

Any thoughts / comments are appreciated!

Go to Stihl dealer. You will NEVER regret buying directly from a Stihl dealer.

I have a 21" dual blade kobalt. It takes a couple of passes if I let the grass get too long, but I've had the same issue with lighter duty gas mowers too. Can't beat the weight or relative quiet of the battery powered one. I've also never had any problems with it running out of power before I could finish the yard. Sounds like my yard is a bit smaller than yours, but I still think a single charge would cover yours.

I freely admit I'm skeptical of most performance claims regarding "non-traditional" battery-powered tools like this. That having been said, I find myself wondering what it is about a battery-powered lawn mower that attracts you most; is it the "green" aspect......the elimination of gas and oil.....the comparative ease of storage......or essentially some combination of ALL these features ??

In acknowledging NO personal familiarity with this or any other battery-powered mower, I find myself wondering that since we're now in the 2nd (or possibly 3rd) generation of these tools, perhaps they're closer to fulfilling their performance claims than earlier versions. My gut feeling, however, is they're still some distance from even remotely approximating the effectiveness of gas mowers in high-growth situations.

Said another way, I suspect you'll simply be left to manage your own personal expectations for the mower during the April and May cutting seasons.

I purchased one of their battery operated string trimmers Nearly as soon as they ams onto the market. Had troubles from the beginning. Motor would randomly slow to nearly a stop and then rev up to max speed. NO predicting when it would do what. Cutting grass was nearly impossible. Had numerous conversations with company. At first they blamed the battery and sent me a new one. Same problems. They then replaced the entire string trimmer (and had me return to them the initial one purchased) but the problems continued. After trying a few suggestions regarding 'how to use the device' and still having problems I returned the trimmer to Home Depot for refund. Would not venture into any future purchase of their products.

I am leery of anything with a rechargeable battery because they eventually go bad and then you may be screwed unless you can replace them.
