early winter squall here

Lots of snow and sirens going off here in Western New York. We had squalls last year but never this early. Might be a long winter.

Snowed in Boone, NC this past weekend while I was up there. Just a dusting but still cool.

I assume he meant police/ambulance/first responder sirens. After Monday, we have our minds set on outdoor tornado sirens.

Never been there in a Noreaster but they say it rivals a hurricane with wind and water.

Is this your first winter there? I can't remember when you moved to the great white northland.

What you're getting now is just a sampling though. I suppose everybody gets used to it, but I'm not sure I could.

2nd winter. 1st one wasn't that bad. Only 1 time the snow got close to a foot. When you hear sirens a lot of sirens, you know a lot of wrecks have happened, especially as we are close right beside a major highway and the thoroughfare.

Just a side note, here in our small village and others around us, they have sirens that go off to call the volunteer fire department together. They haven't apparently heard of at least a beeper system.

Right there with you. I'm at the northernmost part of Ohio now, and it's snowed overnight and all through my drive into work every singe day this week, but it's "just" lake effect snow, so apparently it doesn't really count.

When we drove here, we passed through Cleveland. I had always heard how terrible Cleveland was, but it seemed really nice to me. Out of curiosity, what do you think of Cleveland?

Never been. I've heard their downtown has been revitalized over the past decade. I'm over in Toledo. Might be headed to Cleveland to check out the Christmas Story (i.e. Ralphie's) house here in a few days
