How many players are still injured or suspended? That should determine the line.

We're 14 pts favorites. Take Arkansas State plus the points of you want to bet on the game

I wish it was the other way around but this game is no different than the Davis game that I told you we could lose. Arkansas State has weapons and they are clearly in shape. They’ve beat us recently and can see they can beat us. We are hurting from OSU. I hate to be a negative Nancy, but go watch their games and come back and tell me this is an easy victory for us. They watched us lose to an FCS. They will come in expecting to win.

After week one, and based on history, there’s not a game left on the schedule that couldn’t be a loss. However, based on the last two weeks progress, there’s not a game left on the schedule that couldn’t be argued as a winnable game. There are numerous factors, not the least of which are play calling/game management and injuries. It could be an exciting or demoralizing ride to the end of the season. The one thing we can’t argue is that the kids are showing up and playing hard, and as long as that continues we’ve got a shot at righting the ship.

I think we will win several games. I think we will bowl if we beat Tulane. I don’t think we beat this team.

I tend to lean your way Huffy. I'm really concerned with how the injuries are going to affect our play. Additionally, they always play us tough and can certainly put up points (except at Washington), and I don't think we can have two fairly well called offensive game plans in a row.

Are we still withholding players for the Bowl game episode. It seems that players are being held out for different numbers of games and even different games for undisclosed reasons?

Honestly, the injuries give players a chance to show what they can do. Frequently, we have guys on the bench who aren't playing because of "lack of experience" who are more physically gifted. Everyone loves Chris Paul and the kid is the epitome of what you want from a student athlete in terms of being a student, a leader, etc. but I am convinced that both Jaden Muskrat AND Bryce Bray probably should be starting over Chris based on athletic ability. Why haven't we seen Grayson Boomer at TE....Monty seems stuck on Hall and Palmer. Naylor wasn't going to see consistent playing time until there was an injury and yet he seems like an absolute stud. And we keep getting Cannon Montgomery out there as the 1st option for the 5th WR. That's completely insane and all because they don't work players into different slots in the offense. You know what killed us against OSU? Gundy moving the Bray kid around sometimes lining up outside, sometimes lining up in the slot. What happened? He killed us whenever Powers was trying to cover him in the slot. Monty seems incapable of having guys line up in different sets to see if there is a match up advantage he can exploit. It drives me crazy. We have talent on this team but they don't always get to show what they have because Monty is a by the book guy and won't play an under classmen over an upper classmen and he will defend it with the "experience" factor.

I saw a post game clip after tOSU game where Monty was talking about Cannon coming to him after zeeing an opening that had to do with a different type of motion they were using, so they adjusted accordingly during the game. Idk if that had to do with Cannon's scoring play, but we scored on 2 different plays that Cannon was heavily involved in.

Then let Cannon be the OC and call plays. He seems to see more than the current OC.

He is not more talented than 5-6 WRs who are not getting game reps.

Is talent the only metric that determines playing time?
It should be...As long as the kid shows up with a good attitude and practices hard. My problem is they list all these WRs and they slot them into singular positions and hence why Josh Stewart never got playing time despite his talent. The lack of imagination and lack of having WRs learn multiple route trees and lining up in different places is why this offense is pretty predictable. I think Huffy calls it a HS offense. And they've literally created a WR position for Cannon Montgomery like double slot or something like that.

Well... now that we are embracing socialism those other players have to share their playing time
God...the fact that the GOP continues to bring this up over the healthcare issue just demonstrates y'all don't really understand what socialism is...just that the morons who deliver the daily GOP talking points don't understand we've had "socialist" elements as part of our democracy for 245 years. Military, police, fire, public education (and no private education in OK), public transportation, air travel and airports, roads and bridges, etc. are all socialist in their very nature. And stop conflating "socialism" with "Communism" where they just use it as a big scary word because they know 99% of their base don't know what it is and won't bother to look it up. And the "communism" we knew growing up as part of the Cold War wasn't true communism as laid out by Marx and those governments devolved into Fascist dictatorships, as was the direction Trump, and his need to be in power, was taking us. I know this is Crossfire fodder...so keep those discussions over there and I won't have to respond here

There are other factors such as, hard work, responsibility, trust, mental fortitude, mental toughness, knowing the play book, knowing your route, etc. None of us go to practice. None of us know who checks what boxes to earn playing time. I watched the Spring Game and none of the WR's down the depth chart popped out enough to warrant seeing the field over anyone else I thought.

Skins a little thin huh?

Maybe i should have said that some players have more playing time based on talent.. but we are going to fairly and equitably redistribute that playing time and decrease the PT gap..

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he is a Co-OC without playing calling duties in three years or maybe even less.

It honestly shouldnt take much to coordinate the Briles offense... line up 4 wide recievers wide of the line.. fire them out of the shotgun .. reload and do it again in 15 seconds.. people act like this offense is magical.. it is basically a high school chuck n duck.

It is incredibly simple. Though the decisions players make can be complex. And it’s effective if your opponent isn’t in shape and doesn’t have depth. Which most teams didn’t from 2007-2017. Now they do. Not to mention you’ve got to have an elite NFL talent at QB like RG3, Keenum or even Dane to make it work. A tackle and a deep threat snd you are in business.
