Was reading the MSU ticket email and is it fair to say that visiting fans will only have access to standing room only seats? That seems kinda crappy for the Carnegie Hall of College Baseball. Sorry if the horse is already dead.

It's good to be the host.

Guess so. They can’t even get seats to games we aren’t playing in. This doesn’t seem to be made for a regional as many have claimed.

Visiting fans may not get in? Sounds good to me. Im not into pats on the back from visitors. Im into home field advantage

I think there will be plenty of open seating for that game they will be allowed to use. It wont be a big issue

Home field advantage for a game you aren’t playing in?

Um don't you remember Louisiana-Lafayette having like 300 tickets available for State fans a couple of years ago? When you host you provide jack squat for the other fan bases. If they don't like it they shoulda played better and hosted themselves. And yes that means still not having tickets for the other games we don't play in. Miami, CMU and Southern will have a total of nobody traveling to watch their baseball teams.

So Louisiana Lafayette has 300 more seats at their stadium available than the Carnegie hall of college baseball built for a regional. Got it.

Southern was the same as ULL they were all standing room only tickets but we always found a place to sit. Even when playing ULL and southern.

If they wanted a seat at the Carnegie hall of college baseball they shoulda been MSU fans. It's not going to be a problem for the seven away fans that want to watch CMU vs Miami anyway so this thread is pointless bitching. Shocker.

Visitors get tickets through their school’s athletic departments and we’re required to provide them a minimum number per the NCAA. We spent $65M on our new stadium that provides great views for those standing along the drinkrail in the grandstand in addition to their reserved seats. Not sure what else we could do other than build suites for the visiting teams’ fans.

Lafayette provided the number of seats for visitors the NCAA required them to and not a seat more. Just like we will. Just like Southern Miss did when we were there, just like Vandy did at the super regionals.

I do think.its unfortunate for visiting fans. Hopefully when we get a couple of years behind us we can think of a better way to do general admission.

One thing I have always taken a lot of pride in, is the way visiting teams and fans seem to love our atmosphere and hospitality. It may not seem like we should care about the visitors....but it's a nice image to project.

Always enjoyed reading visiting team's fans review of Dudy Noble. It seems more often than not, those (non sec rival) fans enjoy coming here.

We provide hospitality and seats during OOC games and SEC weekends. Not so much during NCAA regionals and Supers and we shouldn't. It's time to be cutthroat when we're trying to make Omaha. If we get 14-15k at these games I hope all 14-15k are State fans.

I don’t think it’s conducive for that either. I know my family and my friend from Birmingham ,neither of us season ticket holders, have elected to go to the pool this weekend instead. Because going to a game with 4 adults 6 kids just doesn’t work when actual seats aren’t available.

I hear ya man but maybe it's actually doing you a favor if you've got 6 kids to bring in 95 degree heat. Take the kids to grandma's house and make it an adult only trip.

Let me get this straight, after 200 threads of our fans rightfully bitching about not being able to secure chairback seats during any given home game throughout the season, you are here telling us we should be giving opposing fans the opportunity to park their asses in our fricking stadium in line before us?

With all due respect, this is the most tone deaf idea any one poster this board has ever floated.

edit: that came off rude and dismissive. Sorry about that, but our own fans have well documented issues with seating. The Carnegie Hall blah blah blah needs to address our own fans PERCEPTION of the lack of available seating (real or imagined), prior to accommodating opposing fanbases.

Incorrect. They both will provide the same number of seats, plus our stadium allows visiting fans to watch the game from anywhere around the entire park including from behind home plate along the drink rail. We’ll have to agree to disagree if you think the old metal bleachers were a better setup than the current viewing opportunities. Much less the fact that both berms should be available when MSU is not playing.

The NCAA makes host teams give up a certain amount of tickets for the visitor allotment. I don't know the number of tickets, but visitors will get their allotment in tickets.

I'm confused on why this bothers you so much from a visitor's perspective. If your main point is that there isn't enough GA seating for fans who don't have season tickets - I understand.

Fixed it for you. Visiting team fans aren’t being treated any differently than our own folks. They can do the same thing our fans have been doing all year, show up early for berm / drink rail, or buy from StubHub. Yes, the stadium was built too small. No, not everyone for all fanbases who wants a seat will get one. Yes, overall attendance for the regional will be negatively affected by all of the above. All of these topics have been beaten into the ground for over a year now. This is just resurrected complaining that isn’t going to yield any new earth shattering revelations or solutions from anyone.

This argument has now reached a new low.

I could almost understand how the GA crowd might be upset that they can't buy a seat for a regular home series. But now you are bitching about REGIONALS??? Are you f*cking insane

Screw your family and kids. Regionals get packed, it's hot and it's not comfortable for anyone. Your precious fan experience doesn't matter, it's about winning now.

REAL TALK

I just want to add that this whole argument is only problem with OUR OWN SPOILED ASSED ROTTEN FANS. Every visitor who comes to the game and, even if they stand the whole time, constantly rave about how awesome it is. The SRO areas is one of the strengths of the stadium, not weaknesses.

Meh. My only regret is that Mississippi Southern isn't in our regional to enjoy our lack of hospitality.

Seats are always available, if you are willing to pay for them.

I'm not getting the complaints here. Do we clear the stands between each game? If not, I'm not sure how else we coudl do it. The people that paid for seats need to ahve the seats avaialble. With us playing first on Friday, if the grandstands clear out a lot for the second game, then I would hope we wouldn't be nazi's about it and let people into the grandstand early in the game.

If we do clear the stands out, it still seems like there wouldn't be any seats available to other teams. Season ticket holders get first dibs to buy, and then they can use them or sell them or light them on fire, their choice. If the season ticket holders don't buy, it seems like we would sell them through our ticket office, not make them available through the other universities.

Having gotten the shaft at vandy, ull, and southern the last few years don’t care about opposing fan bases seats for our regional. That’s why you want to host.

Hope all of our fan base that bought tickets used them or sells them to state fans.

Or a golden opportunity to make some money back and visiting fans get seats?

This is what will happen, and another benefit for Miami / CMU fans that we have the early game. Our fans will file out and Miami / CMU will have plenty of opportunity to get walk-up tickets to the second game.

The host has to set aside a certain number of seats between the first and Third baseline for each visiting team. Those were the chairbacks they sold each Tuesday during the season.
