Dude Noble Field and Scott Field

By the way, just like we play baseball on Dudy Noble Field, we play football on Scott Field.

The baseball stadium is Polk-Dement. The football stadium is Davis-Wade.

I move that we stop referring to football as Davis-Wade and revert back to Scott Field as it was called for all but the last 15-20 years.

I’m with you. While I appreciate the donor’s gifts, if we named everything after

A donor then sooner or later you’d run out of names. For instance. Let’s say someone gave an amount twice the size of the Wade’s gift to go towards stadium improvements but with the stipulation that they get naming rights. It just creates a bad precedent in my opinion and I’ve disliked it since we changed the name. Scott Field, Dudy Noble Field, Humphrey Coliseum. Those are all nostalgic to State fans and you can’t put a price on nostalgia.

It should definitely be Scott field. It was named for Bulldog, and two time track Olympian Don Magruder Scott from Woodville, MS. He was a dog in the 1920’s. Many of us over 50 remember when a track went around the perimeter of the football field. He should be remembered.

I wish I could give a million up votes. Pet peeve of mine. It should never have been changed from just "Scott Field", but everything was for sale under Larry Templeton.

I concur, Scott Field has the distinction of being the 2nd oldest football field in D1. Davis Wade is just another stadium.
