Have friends whose son is on the prep (3rd and 4th grades) thunder band. Wonderful founder (swinging jacket!) announced retirement at end of last school year.
I love them, but I did't think they were as good yesterday as in the past. Their founder was definitely missed. The new conductor did not seem up to the task, he definitely isn't a showman and didn't seem to be completely in control of the performance. One of the boys who was supposed to come out and dance with the baton came out on the wrong side and then went back to his drums instead of dancing.
