My quess is that it's all speculation. He should have redshirted the rest of this season.
If he is 100% I don't see this happening with his talent
I don't want to put words in other people's posts. But I think some are suggesting that he might not be a 100% a good portion or so of next year. If this is the case then to red shirt. Of course if he's ready to go you play. IMO

I said when he got hurt the first time with how much time he was guessed to miss that should of redshirted him then and let him focus on next year, the way it played out I was right and I'm sure even Riley would admit he should redshirted him as well. he'd be good to go for next year without a doubt.

It is a real possibility, not a definite.
I don't see it. He seems like a really good kid with a huge heart. He won't want to sit. Size is why they don't get recruited by the big boys. Big 10 has some big boys so injuries to him or the AA's, spielman, Grimm, etc. are unfortunately a reality.

Whether he comes back next year or the year after does not mean as much to me than the fact that he can come back at all and be the same player he was. It was a pretty bad injury. I remember Tracy Wistrom and how he was never the same again. Of course, his fracture was hideous.

Wow, do you know the exact extent of his injury? I'm pretty sure there's no guarantee that he'll be back and ready next year at all. I don't know the exact extent of his injury either but my understanding is that it was pretty gruesome. I know it was much more than a basic ACL. Does anyone know more detail?

I'm assuming you meant Matt Herian, with the reference to the bad fracture.

The chance of a red-shirt has nothing to do with his heart but with the extent of his injury.

Of course if you know he breaks a leg you red shirt him. smh

First injury had ZERO to do with the 2nd. Not playing one of your best weapons a whole conference season is asinine.

I just hope DPE is not Riley's Matt Herian. Herian should have been a natural fit in Bill Callahan's offense but due to injuries he never was.

My biggest fear of DPE is that he starts to fear things on the football field that he use to not. So lets just hope he gets healthy and comes back on the football field when he is ready and doesn't rush it and lose confidence as a result.

no I agree, he's a game changer at punt returner and we need him. No one knew this would happen and there's no way to predict it or prevent it. I was only saying the way it played out, yes I wish we would have redshirted him after the first injury was all, this would of never happened. It was my opinion then, and of course it's defiantly my opinion now.
