I don't want to put words in other people's posts. But I think some are suggesting that he might not be a 100% a good portion or so of next year. If this is the case then to red shirt. Of course if he's ready to go you play. IMOMy quess is that it's all speculation. He should have redshirted the rest of this season.
If he is 100% I don't see this happening with his talent

I don't see it. He seems like a really good kid with a huge heart. He won't want to sit. Size is why they don't get recruited by the big boys. Big 10 has some big boys so injuries to him or the AA's, spielman, Grimm, etc. are unfortunately a reality. It is a real possibility, not a definite.
Wow, do you know the exact extent of his injury? I'm pretty sure there's no guarantee that he'll be back and ready next year at all. I don't know the exact extent of his injury either but my understanding is that it was pretty gruesome. I know it was much more than a basic ACL. Does anyone know more detail?I said when he got hurt the first time with how much time he was guessed to miss that should of redshirted him then and let him focus on next year, the way it played out I was right and I'm sure even Riley would admit he should redshirted him as well. he'd be good to go for next year without a doubt.
Whether he comes back next year or the year after does not mean as much to me than the fact that he can come back at all and be the same player he was. It was a pretty bad injury. I remember Tracy Wistrom and how he was never the same again. Of course, his fracture was hideous.
I'm assuming you meant Matt Herian, with the reference to the bad fracture.

The chance of a red-shirt has nothing to do with his heart but with the extent of his injury.

First injury had ZERO to do with the 2nd. Not playing one of your best weapons a whole conference season is asinine.I said when he got hurt the first time with how much time he was guessed to miss that should of redshirted him then and let him focus on next year, the way it played out I was right and I'm sure even Riley would admit he should redshirted him as well. he'd be good to go for next year without a doubt.
