Does anyone know if the plan is for him to return this season? Not sure if it’s been talked about on here, just wondering thanks!

How good can this guy be? His positives and any negatives? I haven't followed him that well.

Thought I heard he might be redshirted in order for knee to have more time to heal. He was rehabbing his knee when he got hurt in an auto accident

Can anyone corroborate..

I just put this in the other thread. Kid is from my hometown and his aunt works with my mom. He wants to play this year, he is not the type to sit out, just heard this tonight. So as long as he gets cleared and he doesn't feel like his way behind, we will see him this year.
Yep, young man is a competitor. There's a reason Cal offered him.

I think he’s an NBA caliber player if he his knee surgery was good.
Yep as someone else said he is a Bucket with a capital B . Best instate kid we have had since Miller and not close really. IMO he is a 2 year player , at worst 3 and might not play a ton this year but will be a star next season and score a crap load of points. He just can flat out shoot the rock and score from all levels .

He was driving to rehab and had a wreck. Broke his collarbone but I think that is healed up.

He is a bucket. Also the 7’2 wingspan is impressive. Had over 3500 points in high school and missed final 28 games senior year with injury.
Yeah I mean with what he scored in that many games is incredible. I know he is viewed as a 4-year local guy, but I don't have any doubts that he can play here and be like a Darrius Miller down the road. He probably has a good chance to become one of the better local players to play at UK that wasn't ranked very high.

Medically speaking, he's going to be able to play this year before Xmas. From what I hear, he's busting his tail to get ready. Great kid. I'd guess we'll see him get few spot minutes vs UL. He's good enough

His game is very similar to Darius Miller's. Very good outside shooter, good not great athlete, nice floater in the lane and Allen has longer arms than Miller. If we have this guy the next 3-4 years count us lucky.

Everything I’ve read including in this thread is he doesn’t want to redshirt, and will want to play once he’s cleared by the medical staff. How much will of course be up to Cal.

From my understanding it shouldn't be much longer. I was told soon, so let's hope that's the case. At this point I get the impression he doesn't feel like he is that far behind, so let's hope that's the case.

I told everyone before he was committed, UK had already been to see him. I also mentioned as soon as they offered, he would be a Cat. I'm not an insider by any means, it just happens he is from my hometown. It's nice to be able to share information, I usually only get to read others, so it's nice to get to contribute a little lol.

If something happens, please don't bash me. Things can always change but it's looking good right now. If I hear anything else I'll be sure to pass it along.

To me, he is competing with juzang for minutes this year. Which ever one looks better in practice will play 10-15 minutes as a reserve guard. Allen catching juzang after being behind will have to do with defense more than anything.

i Am giddy to see what he can do. He is a basketball player, not an athlete. Too many kids are ranked high bc they are athletes but this kid is a player. His wingspan will help his slower foot speed but this kid can fill it up on offense. Cant wait to see what he can do at this level

I'm doubting we see until after the 1st of the year maybe. His conditioning is the thing that will likely keep him out of much game action until he can fully go.
Anxious to see him play. Cal is big on taking it slow with injuries and very big on conditioning.

When he gets cleared, gets back into playing shape, we will see what he can do. We all know he can fill it up, if he can stay in front of his man, he will get a chance to earn minutes. He and Juzang are pretty similar. So who ever can defend the best, make the least amount of mistakes, will play the most minutes between the two as a reserve. As the year goes on, the rotation shrinks. it will be impossible for both to get significant minutes. JMO.

Cal has always been soooo careful with players coming back from injuries so I’m somewhat skeptical I’ll see him soon.

Allen has a 7-2 wingspan. He's much better than some seem to think. Thumbs up to his hs coach playing him as a guard, not trying to make him a post player because he had some height.

I agree. If Juzang doesn't get comfortable and start making shots he better not look over his shoulder because he'll see Allen catching up with him.:)

Allen is a scoring machine. North of 40 points per game before his injury. I don't care about level of competition, that is damn impressive.

He's been putting in work this offseason. I think he's been involved in everything except for actual practice with contact. Hopefully he isn't too far behind so he can get some clock. If he is, then next year he will be the surprise of the team. Kid can hoop.

In all honesty we probably don't need him this season and I would worry about team chemistry if he comes back mid season along with being behind the curve.
You can bet Cal is pondering all this too.
Plus with the stacked roster UK has this season why rush the kid back from major knee surgury? I know he wants to play but he needs to consider being patient too.

Juzang needs time. His handle not where it needs to be yet he is pretty much a spot up shooter right now.
