The thing that made us successful was keeping guys in the program for multiple years and instilling an identity and a defensive philosophy that every one bought into.

Idk if that model is still sustainable in today’s version of college basketball, but I do know that cleaning house and trying to start over with an entirely new group every year isn’t going to produce anything better than what we’ve seen the last two seasons.

Somerville . Yes the d is lacking but his offense has really come on and his rebounding has improved a lot

Grant - as a BACK UP (not even close to a Big10 starter at this point)

But other than that - seriously?
You want the three frosh because this is a complete DO OVER but you need some sort of nucleus to add to so that this year is yesr one and nexr yesr is year two and not yesr one

I will defend my post that Dylan is not ready Ace maybe. Potential is one thing. But guys like them are a dime a dozen in the NBA. You think Dylan will make an NBA team that much better in the next year or 2? Hmm not sure about that.
As of now, both are no better than G-League. I can't see these two playing 82 games against professional men.

The comedy of listening to Rutgers fans think they can judge what the nba is looking for continues to be baffling

The nba could care less what you think of their stats and defense they are drafting on ceiling and potential just like any professional draft

The best college players are not the best nba players … Eric Dixon is the leading scorer in division 1 and will be happy to be drafted at all, dalton knecht is a fringe rotational player and dominated the sec last year

It literally doesn’t matter

I would take Dylan back in a heartbeat.
Ace is insanely gifted and when he gets hot , nobody can stop him. But his defense and his ability to make an offense around him better are severely lacking. Neither of those would be a problem in the NBA style of play but in college - it hasn’t worked out.

I hear yeah

I mean doertch(sp?) could stay too since he seems to have some potential. But he’s really raw

We are gonna need some transfer help!

Can’t rely on freshman and a few sophs-with-some-potential or it’s gonna be an even more miserable season

Maybe it will work out in that we will have more NIL to spread around (not majority going to the top 2 leaving nothing to fill out rest of transfers)… is that the reason our transfer class ended up sucking so bad? I’m don’t know the details. But maybe if the same amount of overall $ is available we get a better transfer class cuase we don’t have to spend all the NIL on 2 guys?

This season is one of the worst botched coaching jobs in the history of NCAA basketball. I hope you people understand that rather than laughing it off. Has to be the worst coaching job this year. It's generational failure though

As much as I dislike pike..I am not convinced every one of these players is worthless. They need real coaching. Sadly they won't get it next year.

Huh? He has basically gotten just 3 per game over the last 6
.(Stopped looking)
He does 1 thing..shoot. pretty good at it but no defense or rebounding.

you might be right re: the #s - not saying by any stretch he’s a good rebounder. But where early in the season he wasn’t really even trying to rebound - the later half of the season I see a noticeable difference in his willingness to get in there, mix it up and get boards. Again, not saying he is good but it’s certainly better than early on. That is all.

That is the main problem with this team for the last 2 yrs, no one returned from last years team. There is no one left from 22-23 on 24-25 and only 3 players came back from 23-24 to teach Pikes system to the new players.

22-23 we lost 7 to graduation/transfer, 6 scholarships, 1 walkon
23-24 we lost 13 to graduation/transfer, 10 scholarships, 3 walkons

We had only a combined 1119 out of 6425 returning minutes, Davis 716, JWill 322 and Ogbole 81. It's just not a winning formula for a defensive mind coach with only offensive players

Funny, I think the opposite. I think Ace's D has been better than Dylans. Not sure either of them have made anyone around them better.

People won't want to hear it, but we want anyone eligible to return to return.

Yes that is the problem and several people have shown our recruiting and retention has been god awful no matter how good freshman are you need upperclassmen in the program and with his absolutely crap recruiting the past few years theres basically no one in the program and you just are not going to win that way

He doesn't even shoot well. He has the worst shot selection I have ever seen

Keep Grant and Lathan everyone else can transfer to mid major or lower level.

Get in the portal and bring in sophomore and juniors who fit your style.

Develop and maintain incoming freshman

3 years from now chance at the tournament

Like it or not Pike is rebuilding from scratch in year 10 of his own program.

We sure will, but if you’re looking for spoilers, Google “NBA Mock Draft” and then look at who is listed as the second and third pick on literally every single one of them.

You don’t understand. SBP doesn’t think they are ready. This is worth much more than all those expert opinions.

How is retaining non B1G level players helpful? I get we need continuity, but with this group? Same thing last year as well. Anyone see a pattern?

"Continuity" of a bad thing isn't a positive.
Continuity only works if you're repeating something good.
Did we need to bring back Wimsatt for "continuity"?

I'd love it if Seton Hall leaned into "continuity" and brought back their entire team. I'm sure 2nd time around will be great.

I'm having a hard time believing that "if only we had Antonio Chol and Jalen Miller" this would someone be a vastly better season.
