Here in North Central WV the storm didn't cause much flooding. It has been amazing at the efforts of local fire departments, churches, and businesses as they take donations to send to the flood victims. Shinnston may have 2,000 or so residents and their volunteer fire department has been collecting items, things like bottled water, non perishable food, mops and brooms, bleach, rubber gloves, personal sanitation goods, diapers. So far they've sent 3 tractor-trailer loads and donations are still pouring in. The same thing is going on all over NC WV. One group is asking for items that could be used to make bag lunches to feed those who are volunteering their time and effort to the clean up effort. One of my cousins collected a pick up truck load of supplies and a thousand dollars in cash from people in her rural church in Pleasants County and she delivered it personally to Richwood. That's the way we do it here in WV. We take care of our own.
