Another launch showing the capability to reach anywhere. I don’t know what else there is to do. How long until the bombing campaign begins?

From a war standpoint, it depends. The Regime will either collapse under weight of a Coup due to the sanctions and soon to be Naval Blockade/Embargo or he’ll attack South Korea like a caged animal. Obviously China/Russia could step in and solve the problem, but I don’t think Russia will. They’ll use them as a puppet against us. China has the most to lose here.

We won’t shoot first. We can’t. He knows that. We can’t be responsible for killing that many people in South Korea.

Did you guys read about the DPRK soldier that ran the border? He got shot like 5 times trying to escape the North. Good sign.

I saw that story. I’m starting to think we do fire first though. S. Korea seems to like Trump’s aggressive line, and would probably back action at this point.

It wouldn't be us firing "first". It would be South Korea.
I guess I should have said we won’t fire first unless the ROK and Japan gives the ok, and realistically, I don’t even think we would then. Better strategy to sanction the **** out of them for another 6 months to a year. It’s having an impact, when the people get hungry enough, change will happen one way or another.

With regards to the soldier who crossed over, I rwad that they found parasites in his digestive tract that they had never seen before.

What a Hell hole for the poor N. Korean people! Please Pray for them. You folks on the Left who think a Socialist utopian State is so wonderful, how'd you like to have those things (worms) swimming around in your stomach? I agree with other posters in this thread that the regime will be overthrown in a coup. Survivial trumps loyalty to "Dear Leader". Short of that if hostilities break out, I see us making quick work of them like we did the vaunted Iraqi Republican Guard in Desert Storm. The N. Korean soldiers are poorly fed, unmotivated, and not willing to carry on a protracted suicide mission against us.

If sanctions, a coup or the N. Korean people don't finish off that little Dog eating Nip...the U.S. Sixth fleet will.

They can't get enough food to their front line troops who have to share meals to keep from starving boom. I seriously doubt they can launch and accurately target an ICBM to hit the broad side of the U.S. west coastline let alone a major city.

Besides, we'd probably be able to intercept it in outer space before it re-entered the atmosphere, or shoot it down once it reaches terminal velocity and begins its decent. We can easily track their rinky dink missiles, so if we're watching its flight path and trajectory, I'm sure we can arrange for one of our SDI interceptors to blast it right out of the sky.

Then we'll counter with a barrage of pinpoint cruise missle strikes against downtown Pyong Yang and their Socialist enclaves, including his Presidential Palace. We can place one right into his sh*tter as he's sitting on the can taking one last minute dump realizing he's only got a few more seconds to live.

wonder if he had chardonnay with his dog?

Probably nuclear colored yellow water disguised as lemon flavored kool-aid from their reactors cooling off what little uranium they produce to make their firecracker warheads. God I despise those athiestic Communist/Socialist slimes.

These Leftsits Snow Sled Baby...are getting on my last Negro nerves! My choice would be Bill Clinton. I remember back in the 90's the Left called him the nation's first "authentic" Black President. (This was before choom gang leader Obama came along)

Why don't we just put North Korea on ignore? just like I do with retard Dave and some other oxygen wasters on here. I'm not sure what our fascination is with NK. Imo they have no leverage over anyone as using nukes against other countries with nukes is not a realistic alternative. We've been dealing with that for decades with the Soviets/Russians, China?, etc. I know that they can sell nuke technology to other bad actors but you can't put that genie back in the bottle.

So in essence, you're advocating Strategic Patience which is exactly what Obama (and his predecessors) did....the very strategy that you wingnuts claimed showed weakness when Obama did it. More hypocrisy from the right.

This reminds me of something else you said a week or so that you didn't agree with Obama on much but you admired the fact that he did what he thought was right and stuck to it. This is the very definition of a leader and you've claimed forever that Obama is a terrible leader. I'm beginning to think you just don't like Black people.

LOL... Doc, you were one mocking Bush for "allowing" NK to acquire Nuclear technology under his watch.

It's either that, or if we're absolutely forced to "attack", then the moment they fire another test missile strike hard. I would wager it takes all their resources to conduct just that single test.

I dont really think an all out nuclear assault is their big threat. It takes them weeks to set up a test. Its all that artillery aimed at Seoul that scares everyone. Anything we do they bomb the **** out of a massive city.

Exactly. Moe wonders why the fascination with the DPRK -- maybe those millions of dead & wounded in 3 years has something to do with it. But, they also have to know that once they've literally shot that wad with their artillery, it will be lights out from the Imjin to the Yalu and from the Yellow Sea to the Sea of Japan, and Korea becomes one united republic nation again.

I remind you Sir it was under Clinton that the U.N. sanctions against N Korea were lifted and he supposedly negotiated the non proliferation agreement with them then assured us they would never again pursue Nukes or acquire them.

Are you also calling Slick Willie out for that debacle?

What Clinton negotiated wasn't a debacle, but that was two Kims ago. Even Kim Jong Un's daddy wasn't as nuts as the current dictator.

Doc was blaming Bush for their Nukes and it is true they were violating the Clinton agreement by then. But Clinton is the one who assured us his deal with them would end their pursuit of Nukes, and he lifted the sanctions against them that allowed them to forge ahead after duping him.

Useful idiot.

Right. Which ones?

2007
  • 10 February: Reports emanating from Washington suggest that the CIA reports in 2002 that North Korea was developing uranium enrichment technology overstated or misread the intelligence. U.S. officials are no longer making this a major issue in the six-party talks.
  • 13 February: The fifth round of the six-party talks conclude with an agreement. Pyongyang promises to shut down the Yongbyon reactor in exchange for 50,000 metric tons of fuel aid, with more to follow upon verification that the site has been permanently disabled. IAEA inspectors will be re-admitted, and the United States will begin the process of normalizing relations with North Korea.
  • 17 July: A 10-person team of IAEA inspectors confirms that North Korea has shut down its Yongbyon reactor, a step IAEA Director Mohamed ElBaradei said was "a good step in the right direction". On the same day, a second shipment of 7,500 tons of oil aid was dispatched from South Korea for the North Korea city of Nampo, part of the 50,000 tons North Korea is due to receive in exchange for shutting down the reactor, according to the February 13 agreement.
  • 11–13 September: Inspectors from the United States, China and Russia conduct a site visit at Yongbyon reactor to determine ways to permanently disable the reactor. U.S. delegation leader, Sung Kim, declared they "saw everything they had asked to see," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

2008
  • 27 June: North Korea destroys a cooling tower at Yongbyon's main atomic reactor.[59]
  • 11 October: The US removes North Korea from its State Sponsors of Terrorism list
