I see so many post about crest vs ac in two weeks and if it happens it should be a classic but crest has to handle cuthbertson and ac has to beat weddington. Not being a homer but i feel as if crest has enough athletes on defense to slow down their offense and shouldnt have a problem moving the ball and putting up enough points to get the win, if we dont look past them.Does anyone on here feel like weddington could knock off ac? I dont know much about them at all.

as previously stated earlier this year in other threads "all you have to do to beat ACR is stop Dowdle" the only loss for ACR was against Shelby and they didn't really stop Rico they outscored him and the Rockets in the 4th qtr. Shelby has somewhat of a juggernaut offense this year that not only beat ACR but was the only team to give Crest a game this season. Weddington is no Shelby......not even close. Should Weddington win? No.....can Weddington win? of course they could.
Weddington is extremely well coached and play in a good conference. Haven't seen Dowdle or ACR, but it should be a good one. Weddington will not be intimidated and may have a chance to win this game. It seems to me that, with the exception of ACR, the MAC was down this year.
The MAC was garbage this year. We (Asheville) played like a bunch of wusses this year and Dowdle ran crazy, which he's done alot this year. As I said on the other site, this is the first game Reynolds has played in 6 weeks or so where if they turn the ball over several times, the other team they are playing is good enough to beat them. Last week, they completely shut down the Asheville RB who had 4,000 career rushing yards. However, we run the ball up the middle damn near every play and run the same offensive plays we have since 2001 so its not a mystery where the ball is going with us. Reynolds does a great job getting Dowdle in space. I said after the Shelby game, alot of the big plays he makes are the result of guys flying in there out of control after him, he makes them miss, and then he takes off. Obviously I am no coach, the kid is a hell of a player and he hasn't been stopped yet, but I think if you are a defensive coordinator, you do everything in your power to make him throw it. Weddington says their rushing defense is their strength, we will see what happens. I look for a Reynolds win, but I am in the minority of guys that doesn't think its gonna be by 28.
Of course Weddington has a chance. They dominated Reynolds in the playoffs last year. Granted this Reynolds team is much better than last years, but Weddington shut down the Reynolds run game last year and picked our D a part with short passes. They are well coached and very disciplined. This will be a very good ball game. Weddington will have the best defense Reynolds has seen all year. Big advantage for Weddington is they are very battle tested, Reynolds hasn't played a close game in 6 weeks or so, that will hurt Reynolds when they do. Having said that, I think as long as Reynolds plays there game and doesn't turn the ball over they win, but believe me it could go either way.
Well said gobiggreen. Reynolds is favored as they should be, but like I said, if for some reason they don't bring their A game, they could be in for a fight. Weddington is incredibly well coached, so is Reynolds. Weddington probably isn't as good as last year, Reynolds is definitely better than last year. Reynolds is the betting favorite.
Honestly the competition Dowdle has faced all season on defense hasn't been the best. If he had not done what he did against West Forsyth I would not be a believer, but seeing him against WF made convinced me that he and ACR are for real. Remember WF is still in the 4AA playoffs, so AC will be a load for anyone in 3AA. They have the greatest potential to send Crest home.
If Reynolds vs. Weddington has decent ref's, the Rockets win by 21. If they end up with the same ref's that we had in the Asheville vs. Weddington game last year, the Rockets win by 3. Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not still crying over the loss last year, but on the suckage scale, last years ref's in that game were the champions. They sucked so bad there was chrome falling off trailer hitches all over Buncombe county.

They put us out in the 1st round in 2011 - when our QB broke his ankle. It was a close game at that point and we were up a few points. All downhill after that.
Weddington may be the best coached team I have ever seen. They are incredibly incredibly disciplined. They really have become the mountains daddy.

Not just the mac but the mac's two best teams and the best the mountains have to offer! The mountains were down this year and most Asheville fans were trying to tell people that.
The mountains were absolute garbage this year. My Asheville team lost to Reynolds by 100 and Shelby gave up 39 to them, for weddington to hold Reynolds to 21 is really an amazing feat. Reynolds scored with about 1 min left and also 1 minute into the game.

This was probably the weakest team Weddington has had in 4-5 years . We really struggled on offense. , but just find a way. If it weren't for that stupid pod system and meeting Catholic in 1st or 2nd round we'd have been up here sooner. We match up good with the MAC. Rico is special literally best one man show I've ever seen
I can't even believe that ACR team could lose in the second round. Must be one heck of a coach and game plan.
Amazing thing is Rico still had 210 yards rushing and 3 TDs, our offense struggled in the first half but did pick it up in the second half. I don't think ACR fans thought this would be a blow out, I know I didn't. Weddington destroyed us last year, we totally respect them and wish them well.

When I saw the tweet that Cuthbertson had gotten within 3 (21-24) and had the ball, I wasn't sure you guys were going to make it out alive.
Things have changed at Crest, only time will tell the extent of that change and whether it is good or bad.
