Is this board creating a negative reputation for UK fans in general when only a very slight percentage (less than one hundredth of a percent ) of idiots ,trolls, opposing fans post negative comments about Pope and individual players . If it is overall hurtful to UK basketball should it be shut down since it in no way reflects the great majority ofUK Fans . Maybe if you have to pay to post the losers and cranks will go away.
Or does it have a positive or no effect?

Nothing. Most don't even know places like this exist. Especially young people

LOL. Nobody cares about this board. At best, it is a place to vent for Cat fans, most of whom are actually better than the nonsense they post here, but they've got to let it all out somewhere. At worst, it acts like one of those roach motels, pulling in all the vermin from other programs who pretend to be Kentucky fans to troll and agitate.

And it is always the best of times and the worst of times here, so it is lucky that it has no impact on the real world whatsoever.

Boards have always created recruiting fodder to be used against teams. Fans are for the most part way too invested in outcomes and their own team's worst enemy on message boards and call-in shows. It's worse when you're a small market team without the money, officiating bias, or huge and positive media following.

Message boards haven't helped for over 15 yrs at least. They dmn sure made it harder for every coach and will continue to do so.

I’ll add to my point earlier:

Im as radical a fan is there is…didn’t even know this website existed until 2024. My brother in law is a hardcore fan and didn’t know this website existed until about a month ago. This is the kind of place where Wildcat fans gather and that’s why it’s perfect (some of us love to hate it, or hate to love it lol). You don’t end up here by accident (usually). Twitter is obviously Twitter.

I actually see a lot of unwarranted , enthusiastic, sunshine pumping on here after every win, regardless of who they beat. Instantly , Final 4 talk resumes , matchups discussed, who we want to play….etc.

Just think if Kentucky was actually any good , maybe 2 losses or so, this board would be overflowing with good will. It would be a great board.

Overall how could it help with recruiting and finding a coach? I mean it is well documented about the stalking that happened with us trying to get Drew from Baylor. I dont blame most UK fans though as the people on here constantly complaining and posting blullcrap posts with negativity day after day are not UK fans. This site has always been bad but man it is almost intolerable now a days.

I would say most players don’t have that much time to hit the boards like us. Between practice and being a student and the girls everywhere who has time to or wants to, or gives a damn about the criticism or opinion of arm chair quarterbacks.

every team with a sizeable fanbase in any sport has a board like this. also its 2026, most younger people dont even know what a message board is
In some cases I would say it hurts, if these recruits or their family ever read some of this crap, why would they want to come here or if their parents read it, why would they let their kid come here.

Players better get used to criticism because if their goal is to play in the NBA, they will be getting plenty of it

Board helps, certain posters hurt. That's the truth.
I had one son that was a pro athlete and another that was an all American in college.
When your kid joins a school, the kid may not go to the team boards, but I guarantee you mama and daddy, brother and sister, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, HS coaches...some proud person in that athletes life can't wait to go on the site and see good things written about their kid. And they see a lot of good. But sometimes, especially NOW, they might see some stuff that might piss them off to no end.
If Rick or early years Cal signed a 4 Star, there would be nothing but positivity about the kid. Pope signed a 4 Star the other day and the reaction was straight up embarrassing. You think that young man hasn't heard about it? Go ask JQ's dad if he ever read it. Yeah, I know, **** JQ, but it still proves my point

My very comments determine wins and losses on a yearly basis ... esp game threads , we post bad things and TO's happen , missed shots .. so yeah we all play a big role , thanks OP

We are comparable to a pro program. It’s gets guys ready for that pressure. Even before this type of tech our fanbase was rabid. The problem has been Mitch Barnhart so no more questions. It isn’t some hidden thing here we suck because our Ad didn’t care about or for the bb program. The guy was given so many mulligans and over the next few years you will see us lose our wins lead and there maybe a team to match us in titles. UConn Duke these schools have won 3-4 championships each while Barney has been AD.
