Does Nebraska EVER get the calls?

Last night's 28-7 foul disparity in the WBB game made me wonder, can anyone remember games where Husker teams WON because of bad/questionable officiating? The only one that comes to mind for me is the Michigan State, Brandon Reilly out-of-bounds catch.

There was a call against Penn State quite a number of years ago, maybe 10 or so, were it seems like they fumbled through the end zone or something. Can’t remember the specifics but I recall thinking that PSU really got hosed on that one.

That's a good one. I think that was also the game where it looked like PSU QB broke the plane but refs ruled it not a TD.

the one that comes to my mind is overtime against Kansas in 2006

Swift catches it at the one and as he extends the ball it looks like it may be coming out - if ruled a fumble it is a touchback and Kansas gets the ball only needing a FG to win

he was ruled out of bounds at the one and Cody Glenn later scored and we won

we MAY have gotten away with one - or at least got the benefit of a 50/50 call

the play is around 2 hour 11 min in the linked video

If you think refs are fair, watch the end of the Michigan State-Northwestern basketball game last weekend. Two atrocious calls against Northwestern that tried to give the game to Michigan State, and they still fail. Sadly referees play favorites. Not so much in high school or pro, but in college its horrible

Everyone gets what they deserve. If you're not getting the result you need to do better. Ref excuse wouldn't matter if you're up 20.

just a flat out naive and wrong take here. you can't just expect that to happen when two good, evenly matched teams are competing against each other and the fouls are 28-7 and FT's 37-8 (or whatever they were).

You also have to look at the style of play. Nebraska only shot the ball 39 time inside the 3 point line. When nearly half of your shots are from beyond the arc, you aren’t going to get nearly as many calls as a team that doesn’t take as many 3s. Iowa only shot 11 3pt shots. I didn’t watch the game but I can tell that Clark and Czinano only shot 4 3 pointers between them and scored 62 points. Much better chance of getting fouled when you are driving to the bucket or posting up as compared to hoisting 3s.

The FT disparity last night was eye opening but Iowa plays fast and the Huskers were forced to play deeper into their bench without their top two guards (Haibe and Shelley). Alot of reach-in fouls but certainly a few that were quick whistles.. I think the foul gap would have been less lopsided if Williams wasn't forced to play the freshman and reserves extended minutes..... more along the lines of the game in Lincoln a week ago (+5 - NE 16 FTs, Iowa 11 FTs)

All in all, it was a very good effort. There are a lot of games still on the schedule and Markowski looks like a runaway leader for Big Ten Freshman POY.

Michigan State a couple years ago on that long Brandon Reilly TD.

I thought that should have gone against us.
