Lanni wants to talk about hand to hand combat on the mat but cites more problems in the stands with parents than anything occurring in competition? That's an adult problem right there. He even went as far to mention how a guy was attacked and died after WATCHING the NCAA finals with the perpetrator, yet made no mention the attack was a result of anything related to the event. The horror of watching wrestling!! Hey Lanni, girl attacked another track athlete during a race with a baton. Track is violent! Every sport has it's problem parents and competitors. Competition should be left on the mat and when completed, as Poz was quoted, shake hands win or lose. People are too wrapped up in winning at all costs. It stems from parents, clubs, athletes, etc. Learn to compete and learn to win or lose with grace. That goes for all sports.

No we have a sports parents problem. A similar incident happened out in PA with a basketball game. At least in PA the athletes who joined the fight were held accountable and both teams were disqualified. Parents poor behavior is one of the biggest problems in youth sports. It causing all kinds of problems and is the leading cause of the official shortage.

Yep. Too many parents living through their kids. Also, rec sports have pretty much disappeared and every kid is a “travel” kid, which means all their parents coach their teams, and therefore think they have the right and credibility to tell high school coaches off. No one wants to coach anymore because of it.
