Yes. We need him for his defense. We have more reason not to start McLeod than we do to not start Forsythe.

I say yes. He’s the best SS we have, and I don’t think it’s a good time to tinker after we found a lineup for the last month or so. But definitely look for opportunities to get Leggett to the plate.

Yup that is 100% right. I’m being a bit too much prisoner of the moment. We can pinch hit when we need to and keeping his glove at short for as long as possible will benefit us especially if we jump out to a lead.

I’d be pissed if I got pinch hit for by Hatcher too. If there is anyone more lost at the plate than forsythe, it’s Hatcher. The only time Hatcher should ever see the field is if he’s in for defense.

Hatcher also got the key hit in the same situation though against UVA when he wasn’t facing a killer slider. If the matchups warrant a LH bat, then I’m fine with Hatcher if its the right pitcher for him to possibly have success.

Plus Hatcher does have the potential for a little pop. In late game situations where it often takes 3 hits to score that does play a factor.

The problem was that the Texas pitcher was having trouble hitting the strike zone when he came in. The three pitches Hatcher swung on would have been called balls if he left his bat on his shoulder. After he swung on that first one the pitcher knew he could keep throwing garbage and get the easy K.

Yes. It was a bad AB….no question. Anyone not in our starting 9 (plus Forsythe, occasionally Cumbest / Kamren James, and others) have been capable of having bad AB’s at inopportune times. Still, Quintanilla still had to throw basically the exact same pitch in the exact same spot 3 times in a row, so give him credit. He tried to throw it to Leggett in that spot too, but he hung it and you saw the result.

Leggett all day. There isn’t that much difference in them defensively and Leggett can deliver offensively in big at bats while Forsythe just is lost at the plate. He can’t even get a bunt down.
