Does Anyone Know the Format After Tuesday?

I know that the quarterfinals are Tuesday and I know that in the Region A and B half of things, Riverheads is hosting West Point and Northumberland is hosting Central Lunenburg. But I am trying to get a handle on what happens after that.

If you look at the brackets on the VHSL website, it appears that the final two games are Friday and Saturday, but they are not saying where they will take place. But the really weird part is that the brackets show the same teams playing each other again as opposed to cross-bracketing.

Say for example that Lunenburg and Riverheads were to be Tuesday's winners. According to the website, they would play each other again on Friday, which really does not make any sense. Does anyone know if that is true and more importantly, does anyone know WHERE the Friday/Saturday games are being played?

Region a and b will play each other in semis. A. Or B and C or D will play each other in the final.

The 1A semis and finals will be at Radford University. And yes A&B are in the same bracket and C&D are in the opposite bracket. So, yes it could be a Riverheads-Lunenburg semifinal in baseball. In boys' basketball it was Lancaster-Northumberland in the state semifinals.

Thanks for this input. Do we know Friday and Saturday game times?

I remember the Lancaster/Northumberland basketball situation, but if they are making all four semi-finalists play at Radford instead of playing the semis somewhere closer to home, then they might as well cross-bracket them. The advantage to cross-bracketing is that it gives two teams from the same region or maybe even the same district the chance to make it all the way to the finals. It used to be that way, at least in some cases.

I agree that if we aren't going to cross bracket, why force so much travel? I think an East/West final is fun for sure though (but there are times where one of the best teams is sitting at home). But couldn't we just go Monday, Wednesday, Friday and only do Friday at Jamboree site?

I agree coach that’s a long ride for region A on Friday if they are there and again Saturday almost have to spend night and if you play Friday morning you almost have to stay Thursday night don’t make sense
