I think Illinois comes into the last game at 4-13 so if RU can pick up another win before that game then yes they can escape the basement with a win over Illinois....or at least tie

Illinois has beaten Iowa and Michigan (and OSU). They still have PSU & NW at home. Iowa again on the road. It would require them to lose 6 of their last 7 games. I guess it's possible actually I forgot about the tie breaker if we each have 4 wins.

While it's certainly a stretch, I'm not counting us out for 6 wins. We are capable of taking 3 of 4 at home and stealing one more on the road.

With that Wisconsin OT game, were a hair from winning 3 of our last 5, with one win at home, one on the road, and the OT game on a neutral court.

That said, 5 wins in conference is certainly a realistic possibility, and 4 wins seems likely.

I think we have 4 legit winnable games left: at OSU, home vs Minnesota, home vs Michigan and home vs Illinois. At least a split of those 4 games and a win in the B1G tourney and I am more than happy for how Year 1 turned out.

I do not think RU is capable of winning 3 of 4 because they have shown no evidence to date of being able to be that consistent. They have won two games by the skin of their teeth and the last one barely held on. These are better teams we will be facing...all of them even Illinios with their talent level.. I think one is certainly doable but two more wins isnt likely but it could happen uf we catch a team on an off night

RU's chances of passing Illinois in the standings took a big hit tonight with their road upset of Northwestern.

I don't see how that is related personally.

Illinois vs NW is an in state rivalry game with plenty of Illini guys from Chicago area.

Illinois vs RU is a game.

11-14 game at 7PM. 12-13 game at 430pm. Let us win 4 B1G games and be upset that the 13th seed won 5.

On a separate note....why not play this game in the morning. At least give 10 thru 14 and extra 8-10 hours of rest before playing 4 more games in a row. Probably overthinking things.

I think you missed my point. Illinois now already has 4 wins so with games left against Iowa, PSU and Nebraska, it is now much less likely they come into the RAC with just 4 wins, as BAC was predicting. Now, even if RU beats IL, it may not be enough to avoid the conference basement.

yeah its pretty unlikely now that RU can pass Illinios outright...best they can hope for is Illinois to lose out and RU wins 2 and they tie with 4 wins. I do not see RU winning 3 more and Illinios after their win at Northwestern will be favored to beat Penn State at home. From watching Illinois I guess their main issue is consistency, they looked very good last night and will be a challenge to the RU defense

In order to have a shot at it we need Illinois to only have 1 more win than us going into that final game. Right now they have 2, so we need to get 1 of these next 6 and Illinois must lose their next 5.

In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Scarlet Knights have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar...

I watched some of that game. NW was playing without their star player who was ill. If he played in the Illinois game, I firmly believe NW wins that one at home.

I watched Michigan the other night. I think we have as much chance of beating them as I do of marrying Lacey Chabert !

Michigan runs hot and cold....if they are making their 3s, RU will lose by double digits, if they are off, then RU has a shot. What these home games all come down to is do the opponents come in a respect Rutgers or do they go right to business like Iowa did.

If Rutgers had a pulse on offense, the remaining games at the RAC could turn out to be upset wins. The problem is that Rutgers has played better on the road .
