With the conference title game for the first time the Big 12 ... and, more importantly, TV ... does NOT want the same 2 teams to play each other twice in 8 days. So the schedule was set up to keep Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, the mostly likely title game contestants, from playing each other twice in as long as 4 weeks. Look at the schedule. The teams projected to finish highest play earlier. The ones figured to finish lower play later. Your premise is way off base. Next year it will be the same thing. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will not play in the final week of the regular season, as the Sooners and Mountaineers do this year. It's bad for TV ratings. And it changes what you do in the regular season game if you know, win or lose, you play again the following week for all the marbles. TV rules. They aren't going to do anything to hurt their ratings. And conferences do TV's bidding because they're paying millions for the coverage. Respectfully, I disagree. If it doesn't make sense, I don't believe it.
