I attend a few games every year, but don’t buy season tickets, manage to acquire regionals and sometimes super-regional tickets when I can make the games, watch and enjoyed the games streaming on TV, and that has been the extent of my measurable rooting interest.

Back in the Spring this year I finally joined the Diamond Heels Club because I felt it important in this NIL and revenue sharing era to make my support more tanglible. Outside of the credit card charge clearing I never heard anything and patiently waited. Today it came! An envelope in my mailbox! My mind said I was expecting a t-shirt, but not being certain I opened it gently so as not to damage the sticker or whatever trinket of recognition to which I was entitled might be inside.

And there it was - a letter inviting me to renew my membership. I sh*t you not. I’m not even upset. I can buy my own t-shirts and have many times. But it’s really bad form to solicit funds, ignore the donor, and then go back to the well asking for more. I love Tar Heel baseball so I will renew despite the slight which is probably 180 degrees the wrong message to send.

I get it, I would be a little bummed out too. That being said, I know they were overwhelmed this year with new members. It’s a GREAT problem to have, but you also want the members to feel appreciated. I’m pretty sure that there is only one person managing the memberships as well. I’m 100% positive that they wouldn’t want you to feel that way, so I would give them a call.

You've achieved a higher level of recognition than I have. I haven't even been asked to renew my giving. I don't give a sneeze about getting a goodie bag, but I would like to know that they got my money.

Of interest though is we open the season against Indiana. Then the typical ECU H/N/A series followed by LeMoyne at home. Home ACC series are UVA, Louisville, GT, BC, and Pitt while away are State, Duke, Cal, Clemson, and ND.

Hopefully the ACC doesn't send us to South Bend in late March again, like they did in 2023. The schedule was brutal that year, with early season trips to Pitt and ND.

Didn't we get a single game in at Pitt that year, played over 2 days?

Hope the Clemson series is in April or later. It's a great place to spend a weekend for a baseball series but don't want to do it during the NCAA basketball tournament.

I recently re-upped my membership in the diamond heels club. This is the email I received and response.

Good morning from beautiful Boshamer Stadium!

I’m reaching out to confirm your Diamond Heels Club Membership! We appreciate your support of the Diamond Heels and look forward to seeing you at the Bosh soon! Your support is a very important part of our baseball organization, and we welcome you with open arms.

With this being my first year overseeing Diamond Heels Club operations, I would appreciate your patience in receiving your gift – but not to worry, we will get it out in a timely manner. I am easiest reached by email, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

As always, Go Heels!

Anyone know when the baseball schedule typically gets released? Was planning on going to the football game at Cal but definitely skipping that now. So thinking about deferring it for baseball series, assuming it’s not during the ACC or NCAA tourneys.

We were one of the last teams to send it out. Most people were able to piece together our schedule based on when other teams released their schedules, so you should know before we release ours.

Yesterday I received the nicest note from Kate apologizing for the delay and enclosing my gift. It was much appreciated.

Go Heels!
