per carino.

Not the end of the world but jeez, are we going to be able to field a team next season? Staff has its work cut out for them.

I wish him well.

Now it's time for the Staff to fill out the Roster for next year and then bring in Three more 4 Star Players for 2018.

College basketball is such a crazy world. It's getting worse than pro basketball and free agency.

Hard to follow a team every year when you don't know any of the players.

Lol.

Guys, do not worry. The program will be okay. These are the best situations that could happen to us.

More of an opportunity to get someone that fits.

I thought he had the most talent of all our centers..but it rarely showed on court. Something to realize about transfers is that in most cases the idea starts in the coaches head first.

Writing was pretty much on the wall with Diallo. He pretty much disappeared from the rotation after 1/28.

I think we have a few commits but we have to clear room for them to be announced. I could be wrong but that's what I'm thinking

Why are people so surprised. Many of us expected this. Diallo hardly played and did not score a point in our last 13 games. Pikiell can now begin to bring in his own guys. We have 10 on scholarship with Baker and Souf Mensah leaving us with 3 open ships. Hopefully Coach will bring in at least two guys for this coming season either grad transfers or freshmen or Juco immediately eligible players. I myself do not mind if we bring in one transfer who needs to sit out if we can bring in two that can play immediately. Coach knows what he is doing. I wish Ibrahima the best. Somehow I think he will wind up somewhere that he can play immediately as he has already taken a redshirt. Perhaps he winds up at a D-2 or a NAIA school.

Diablo seems like a good kid and I hope things work out for him. He showed signs during Seton Hall game but I guess in practice he didn't show enough to warrant more playing time. So interesting to see how coach retools this roster.

im really hoping there are some people were waiting to lock in. Diallo, Nigel and Lauren. Gettys gone. Corey in limbo. Really feeling crappy after the fun year we had last year.

It will be fine. Probably a small step back record wise as expected with a better OOC schedule. We knew we were losing Gettys and Sanders should be back. Laurent and Diallo loses are nothing we can't replace easily. Only surprise loss is Johnson and he seemed to be a head case.

We're going to have like 7 scholarship players next year

I'd be shocked if we don't get at least one grad transfer or JUCO and we'll probably get a couple. Also, it is arguable that one of the players we are losing even deserved a scholarship.

Pikiell and his staff have shown they can coach.

They have not yet shown they can recruit.

Now, they have not been on the job long at all, and it can take time to gain momentum in recruiting, particularly here given RU MBB's history. So there is no meaningful track record on which to conclude that Pikiell and the staff are not going to be able to recruit.

But the reverse is true too. It's very hard to recruit well enough to compete in a top BB conference, even for good coaches. The recruiting competition is fierce. And it doesn't always follow that a good coach will also ultimately recruit well. So I understand being concerned that, while players are leaving, even players that aren't good, new B10 level one's aren't arriving. Now, those recruits may arrive soon (though recruiting for key players in the summer is no way to survive long term) or they may start arriving in a year or two. But until they start arriving, it's perfectly reasonable to be uncertIn about whether they ever will.

Wish Diallo all the best. He passed the eye test as he was the most athletic of all all big men. Very unfortunately he did not have the skill set/BB IQ to utilize his athleticism on the court. We have had too many of that type of player. I believe Coach P and his staff and will replace the transfers with upgrades but we do need to start winning especially against good programs to attract top players.

Pike believes in having a full roster to cover for injuries and to have a full complement of players to practice and create competition so players develop. At this point to get (4) players may be tough.

I don't like guys leaving but it has to be fairly obvious the kid was not going to play here.

This is the new norm of college hoops so don't get shook about it.

Trust the HC and let him do his job.

Dont really get people acting like all these transfers are no big deal. We have a depleted roster. No players have shown any sign of coming here for this current season. Were in big trouble if we dont land a couple juco transfers or late decent signees.

We only have 3 scholarships open at this time. Once again I see way too many negative comments being made. Many of us knew there would be transfers and that Coach would like his own players that fit his system. I for one believe in Steve Pikiell and our entire staff. I believe between now and August we will have a full roster and that Steve will choose wisely.

the future is not these players....Laurent and especially Diallo not up to what we need. Stop thinking in terms of next year. Its not about next year. Its about the future. Thats why the Nigel loss is not that devestating. RU was not going to post season next year with this group. Its all about what Pike has lined up for 2018 and 2019 and make no mistake about, he HAS to deliver. However paring and weeding out players on the roster that are not the right fit or will not be good enough to be part of the rebuild is what the program needs. Would you rather have schollies tied up for players that are going to ride the bench. Diallo and Laurent saw little playing time

Very fair and balanced analysis.Pikiell has shown that he is a good coach in teaching defense and rebounding and he represents Rutgers in a very favorable light. The unknown for any Rutgers coach, however, is the ability to recruit players that have the skillset to compete in a power conference.Replacing transfers is easy but finding those top tier players willing to play for Rutgers is hard.

Theres literally HUNDREDS of grad transfers available. We'll be fine. Were gonna be better in 17-18 than 16-17

Expecting to compete at this level with grad transfers plugging major holes is far fetched.

Losing a serviceable 7 foot junior that would've gotten 15 minutes a game is not good imo.

Not saying diallo is a big loss or that it wasn't expected but losing Johnson/Laurent/diallo coupled with the loss of Gettys and the possibility of sanders not returning is a lot to address this late in the process.

Saying we'll be better next season when we don't know for a fact Corey will be back is absurd.

Corey is not ready to play pro ball anywhere and Coach Pike is expecting him back. The writing was on the wall for Diallo for sure.

The way I look at it, the more players that EJ brought in that leave the better since it allows Coach Pike to get his guys in house.

Hopefully we are close with a few. Really need a productive big man. Doorsan is the only center and he's susceptible to foul trouble. Then either a shooting small forward who can also post or a post up power forward and then we desperately need a shooting guard to make up Nigel's points.

Then bullock is a wild card at this point. Expected diallo to leave but not Johnson and not Laurent. I'm not shocked at Laurent and it's the right move for him but I thought bullock for sure?

Only one I was surprised with was Nigel Johnson, mostly because he stated a week before he was coming back. But with the graduate transfer rules it wasn't totally unexpected..

Diallo and Laurent were expected.
