Xavier transfer. Expelled from Xavier. The circumstances would never have allowed a transfer to Rutgers.

Why is that? While Wells was accused of sexual assault, local police could not find enough evidence to charge him and went so far as to publicly call Xavier's student disciplinary process "flawed". Furthermore, Wells later won a judgement against the school and the NCAA waived the requirement that he sit out a year.
Did Maryland do the transfer before the expulsion mess played out? Unequivocally, Rutgers would never get involved with a transfer candidate with Dez Wells circumstances. Just the way it is around here. Doesn't have to be a crime -- just bad behavior/decision-making is enough.

He was already expelled when he officially transferred to Maryland. There was some new info about the case that came out once he was a Terp and the prosecutor said some things to side with Wells. The case was dropped and the NCAA gave him immediate eligibility since Xavier essentially jumped the gun on everything. I bet they regret that.
