Sad situation- one of the workers killed by exploding tire was only identified by his tattoos and Mississippi State lanyard around neck.

Any idea what happened?
No idea but if you’ve seen that gif/video of the thug in presumably an Asian country try to slash a tire on a big construction truck, I can definitely see how the body was not recognizable. Just ripped the arm apart and peeled skin back.

Can’t find the video I’m thinking of but this is close.

When i was at Osan, AB in S. Korea (1990), i saw the aftermath of a aircraft tire explosion, the force/destruction is incredible. Think about how thick/tough/well built these tires are, the force it takes to explode causes a lot of destruction to anything/anyone near by.

The only thing I can think of is that the tire wasn't deflated or deflated enough before they removed the nuts. Aircraft wheels, unlike cars are two piece rims. Loosen the nuts without deflating first and you can get half a rim hurled at you with explosive force.
