I saw him at the end of his career with the Jazz. He could barely jump at the time, which was shocking to me, but was still out there shooting 3-pointers.

He had a restaurant in downtown Louisville called Griff’s that had the BEST smoked wings I’ve ever had in my life. I would drive to Louisville just for them. I died on the inside when it closed. Please come back.

Try Rooster's wings. Get the Donkey flavor, extra side of ranch. Thank me later.

They were very good. Too bad parking there was a huge PITA

Not a big fan of breaded wings, but I’ve had them before and they were pretty good. I hate that they leave on the kicker, because I’m always tempted to eat it even though I know better. Haven’t tried the donkey, am interested.

I’m a savant with street parking. I’ve also been known to park illegally and put a couple traffic cones on the front and back of my vehicle. No one’s ever disturbed or ticketed it.

I don’t usually like sugary sauces but they had a praline sauce for the wings… I would sell my soul for that recipe.

Saw Darrell Griffith play when he was in HS. He played for Louisville Male, and they played a game at my HS, Covington Holmes. There was buzz around the school for weeks before the game about how good he was. He lived up to the hype.

Had to comment to bump this thread back to the top. Apparently it has triggered someone, and that amuses me.

I've been trying to remember his Male High teammate who also could jump out of the gym. I think Griffith was 6'3 and his teammate was 6'2". Amazing athletes.

Griffith is a great guy who is down to earth and humble. He's also been a big supporter/advocate for the NBA to come to Louisville. He wasn't happy when Jurich and Pitino squashed that whole deal.

Irrespective of the fact he played at Louisville, this guy was one of the most exciting players in college basketball history. I, for one, loved watching him play.

I liked watching that championship team, but I liked watching all of Crums teams in the 80's. When Crum lost Houston to Tennesse he just never really got the talent like that again, sort of like when Joe B. lost Hamilton.

Yes it was Bobby Turner who was about 6’4. Guy could play as well and Male HS back then was hard to beat. Griffith could out jump Turner but it was close.

Griff had small hands and could not palm a BB. True story. But, he did everything else well !
Yep, that’s why so many of his dunks were two-handed. He couldn’t grip the ball well enough to do a lot of those swooping one-handed jams you see from other great dunkers.

But that didn’t stop him from still being “hands down” one of the greatest dunkers of all time.

No, mixx Donkey with Garlic and get Bleu Cheese, Then Thank ME later.

Actually used to mix Donkey and Chipotle and that was Uhhhh MAZING! But then they did away with Chipotle so I switched to garlic. just adds a nice touch of flavor with the heat from the Donkey.

And not to sidetrack the topic. I got to meet and sit next to Griffith at a Restaurant opening the company I work for had. Really nice guy and looks like he could still play today. He takes pretty good care of himself.

You can get them naked at Roosters if you ask for it.

As a teenager in Lexington, the only non UK player I had a picture on my wall was Dr Dunkenstein.

I was on that team in 75/76 - Griffith was a great guy. We lost 2 games that year a home regular season game to Trinity and the 7th region final to Ballard
Crazy the amount of talent in that one single game yet a team like Edmonson County won it all that year

Didn’t Shawnee have some good teams around that time? Rudy Macklin?
