You have to admire his consistency

Like him calling QB keeper on 3rd and short. You know it’s coming, and it usually works.

Same Ole Danny. Talks a big game and then underproduces. And the kicker is always someone will pay him more, so even though he flamed out and lost the last three games of the year, give me a million dollar raise.

Said Mullen reached 29 wins faster than any coach in school history. He also gave Bama all they wanted two weeks ago. Let’s not pretend Florida is not in a better place now than anytime since Meyer left. This feels similar to when Saban was getting the ball rolling at Bama. They struggled against the top teams for a couple years after they were a good team, then they took the step and became great. Will Mullen stay there long enough to get them to “great”? Probably not.

No. Because he's not a great coach. Good but not great. I also believe he will be gone as soon as something else falls his way.

You really hate to see the Florida AD having to go through this with Dan.....

I don’t think that was true, but it got several people in the national media. I heard it on XM, because the Atlanta Journal Constitution posted something about it.

Saban won the SEC in year 2 and national title in year 3 at Bama. His first year was bad though.

I agree with the point you’re making though. I do think Mullen is a good coach but he’s not worth all that **** every year, especially for a program like Florida. I expected him to do all that crap here annually because I understood we were always going to be a stepping stone for Mullen. But Florida is not. Florida is a top 5 college job. If I were SS, I’d tell him I’m not doing this song and dance with him at Florida. He wouldn’t get a raise or contract extension out of me in a year where he floating his name out for jobs. He’s a good coach but not irreplaceable for a program like Florida.

If only he had known what he was getting into.

If I was wearing a tin hat I'd wonder if Dan didn't go to Florida because his favorite mark was running the show there. He worked Stricklin at State and then gets an invite to coach at a school with a bigger pot and the same rube? Hard to turn that down.

I’m picturing Dan and his agent (sexton?) laughing as they get together for drinks at the end of every season. “Want to roll out Plan A on little Scotty again?”
“Yeah buddy, it hasn’t failed us yet!”

An issue is who do you go get to take it to the next level? If you run him off and the next guy moorheads you then now you’ve hurt your brand. You can’t pull an auburn.

And that's why Danny does this. Because he can. Even with the embarrassing LSU and Okie losses, he beat Georgia and came within a touchdown of winning an SEC title.

That’s always a risk for sure. I just feel like if I’m the AD at Florida I can get the right guy. But they have proven several times they are not immune to bad hires.

Come on, people. He didn't want to stay in Starkville and he phoned it in more than a few times, particularly after he got us to Number One in the polls. But give him credit for getting us there. Time will tell if we ever get there again.
He may not be Saban-level great, but he's one of the best in the country right now.

Give me a break. He beat Georgia without a QB and that Bama game was NOT close.

He's not there yet. Better than they were, sure. He doesn't have the players that the big dogs have, and doesn't seem to be adding them.

Huh? It was 35-31 Bama at end of 3rd. Florida scored a td in 4/5 2nd half drives... only one they didn't it was Florida fumble, not punt.

Someone mentioned it on twitter, but it would be pretty hilarious to see a coach edit... Where Dan Mullen is featured and he's got like 3 or 4 NFL Logos like he's about to commit to one #RespectMyDecision #NoInterviews #BusinessDecision

They couldn’t get the guy they wanted last time. Mullen was option 3 or 4. And three of the previous four hires were horrible.
