Cindy died yesterday, 5/4/18. I got an email from her son, George, overnight.

I think we only saw Cindy outside the RAC two or three times in the dozen years our season ticket seats were adjacent to hers at the RAC. (And those two or three times were lunches or dinners at post-season tournaments.)

Nevertheless, it's an interesting object lesson in the nature of "community," isn't it? Watching all those games together in good times and bad, cheering and commiserating, talking basketball, but also filling in one another on our lives outside the RAC, in short, becoming friends, if even just friends-for-the-season.

We missed her terribly last year, the first year she wasn't well enough to use her seats.

We miss her now.

I'm sure there is a way to make a contribution in her memory to RUWBB and have her family informed of the gift; but I don't know what it is. Does someone here know how we go about it?

Cyn was one of the first people I met when I started following RUWBB. I remember how she always referred to her late husband George as “DB” for Dearly Beloved. One of my first road trips to follow the team was to East Lansing MI to an NCAA sub-regional. I had been stuck in Chicago because of a snowstorm on the East Coast. Cyn and George had left early and made it to East Lansing. Cyn posted on these message boards looking for a road to the games because she and George did not like driving at night. I volunteered and got to meet them. Cyn was a great fan. We will miss her.

Marvelous lady and a battler against aging, but of course, sooner or later age wins.

Remember her spunk, eagerness to make the NCAA away games, often asking my wife for directions and advice. Attended Easter Church with her one year, when the tourney fell over Easter weekend.

Felt bad when we lost touch a couple years back when she was still (apparently) active enough to attend games. Also remember her posts on this board.

Rest In Peace.

So sorry to get this news. As I recall, Cynthia (Cyn38) was a Red Sox fan as well as RU fan plus an editor for the local news. We saw her at a few away games including the Las Vegas tournament some years ago. She was a great fan with clever insights. And if I recall correctly, she had a lucky pink sweater that she wore at the NCAA tournament games one year, perhaps in the 2007 run to the Final Four. Does anybody else recall this or am I conflating this with someone else?
I do not know how we can donate to RUWBB in her honor, but someone should have the info.

Thoughts and prayers for her, her family and friends.

You have the correct person. Believe she worked for the Courier News before retiring. And she did have the lucky pink sweater.

She definitely did work for the Courier News, as I worked there as well. I have no idea what she did. None. And I worked there for 13 years. Anyway, she often would stop by the sports department during basketball season to chat. Certainly a great fan.

I knew her a bit years ago as well. She even invited me to join her at a game early in CVS’ tenure in the fantastic seats she had in the 100 level. Great lady. RIP.

Definitely remember her from the board here but had not seen her post much recently. Seemed like a great loyal Rutgers womens hoops fan and a great person too. Sorry to hear about this, saw it in the paper and thought this was the women who posted on the board. Condolences to her family and friends.

Rest In Peace Cyn. Would love to attend your memorial, but living in Panama makes it difficult.
