I come in peace and have no shame posting this preview on here. Looking forward to hearing all of your thoughts. Hit me with your final score predictions. If I did not have Iowa winning I would not post this here.

I thought your analysis was accurate jd, and I don't think that is because you predicted an Iowa win. You made it clear the victory would be by a slim margin either way.

You broke things down well. A big mistake in this game could end up being a very big mistake.

I think a lot of Hawk fans are underestimating ISU. They are a lot better than people think.
And those same people seem to be great at wishful thinking and, thus, are vastly overestimating Iowa, which doesn't appear to be nearly as good as some people think. I hope Iowa wins, something I used to hope for twenty years back in the glory days of Ray Nagle and Frank Lauterbur and Bob Commings. But hope almost never overcame the reality that Iowa just wasn't very good.

ISU 31-13
Based on what we know so far, this seems like a truly genius prediction. Becht is likely to throw the devil out of the ball, while Iowa will stubbornly run the ball into a stacked box and spend the day punting. The result is, most likely, to be an easy win for ISU. And truth be told, it could be much worse than 31-13 given Iowa's poor D-backs, lack of QB pressure, and no passing game. I hope the Genius and I are wrong. I hope Iowa pulls off a huge upset, but I just don't see how that would happen. But then I didn't see Iowa beating Ohio State 55-24 back in the day either . . .

I don't necessarily see an "easy" ISU win. I could see it being 21-13/17-13 ISU in the second half before pulling away late to the 31-13 win.

It's going to be a close game. I think it's going to be a slow starter kind of like the ISU vs KSU game was in Ireland. I think Iowa can run the ball on ISU. Maybe not early but there will be some holes there. I think ISU took a step back at WR losing both of last year's to the NFL. Brecht can still sling it, but I like our D to be stingy with them. I think Mark G bounces back. I think he was a little to wired and I'm hoping he can calm himself down and just take what ISU gives him on D. If that happens, I like Iowa to win the game.

Final score 20-17 Hawks

Close game as always. ISU with a quick start but the Hawks grind out a win after several clone turnovers. Iowa 16 ISU 13

They looked like **** last weekend, but KSU will be solid this year.
KSU lost their starting RB in the first few plays of the game in Ireland, North Dakota has been giving teams fits for years. KSU will end up with a decent season, Johnson at QB is very good, they will be fine. What hurts them is they gave up a home game to play over in Ireland and then lost, putting them behind in the tie breaker with ISU if they both tie in the standings. They also play most of the better teams in the league only missing Arizona State road trips to KU and Utah could be dicey for them already down one game in the standings, they do not have a lot of room for another mess up.

That’s odd. For the last 3 days all I’ve seen is supposed Iowa fans saying iowa has no chance. How does that correlate to underestimating isu?
That’s odd. There are a lot of fans on this board predicting an Iowa victory.

Also….being a fan doesn’t mean you have to pick your team to win every game.

Yeah. Not once did I say otherwise. You should learn reading comprehension.

I haven’t seen one Iowa fan underestimating isu. I have seen lots of Iowa and clown fans underestimating Iowa.

Iowa State struggles against running teams where the QB is a running threat. Iowa is better in both trenches and has the better running QB. Iowa wins 23 - 14.

“Not one” Iowa fan underestimating ISU? Guess you really haven’t read many posts.

No matter. I’m finished with this conversation. Have a nice day and Go Hawks!

if Campbell does his usual **** and tries to "out-Iowa" Iowa, I could see it swinging the Hawks way, otherwise...yikes?

Hawkedup is EyeofHawk's twin. No criticism allowed, no questioning of KFz. Just drink the koolaid.

They seem to have trouble differentiating what people would like to happen vs what they think will happen. We'd all love to see the Hawks go into lames and get the W. Based on what we've seen from both teams so far, many are not optimistic.

LOL. Not even close. I am nowhere near the same ballpark as that joker. I have been more than critical of Ferentz and the hawks. I am 100% ready to move on from Ferentz. The point I made in this thread seems to have flown over your head as well. So, let me type slowly so you can understand.

You literally made my point in the bold. which is contradictory to what hawk83 said in his initial post ITT. If the posters on this board are truly Iowa fans, then I simply haven't seen many, if any, underestimating ISU. Many, just like you said, are not optimistic. That is NOT underestimating ISU. I mean, for crying out loud. Many, yourself included, don't even think Iowa will be in this game.

Do you get it now?

OK, let's back off on the soft insults. Lumping you in with Eyes was unfair.

You can't be serious about the bolded part. This place is all Iowa fans with the exception of a few obvious interlopers. You can be a fan and still be honest and skeptical of your team and coach, as you yourself pointed out. .

As for the not optimistic and underestimating. You're talking about two different groups of people. Some think ISU has a much better team and Iowa looked unimpressive (the not optimistic) and others think Iowa will pull it out and there's nothing to worry about because we've won the last 6 in Ames. They don't seem particularly impressed with ISU's start despite a pretty well-rounded performance and some big numbers last week. (underestimating)
