Syracuse needs to hire a guy that will manipulate their rpi numbers like many other schools do

they need to start scheduling tough road games...scheduling UConn/SJU/Gtowns of the world not helping them

Syracuse should play at Michigan or play Kansas on the road. They lost at Wisconsin, win that game they were in.

The last couple seasons Syracuse has won less than 20 games and lost over 10 games which puts them in a precarious position in a power conference like the ACC.

How many years has Syracuse not ventured out of the state of New York before conference play kicked in? And this year, you can throw in a god-awful road record once they did venture out of state. Not really a surprise to anyone, except the aforementioned Syracuse grads in the media.

'Cuse did this to themselves. Their decade long standing of playing nothing but a stacked home schedule OOC with very few challenging games has finally bit them in the ***. They should be happy it took this long.

Last season they won 23 games and went pretty deep in the NCAA Tournament. I think they lost to UNC

The next time Cuse schedules an OOC road game, much less a tough one, will be the first time.

To be fair, they won just 19 games in the regular season and ACC tourney, entered the NCAA Tournament as a 10 seed. After their first round loss to Pitt in the ACC Tourney, Lunardi had them in his First Four Out. That they managed to pick up 4 more wins en route to a Final Four berth and 23-win season is a testament to them peaking at the right time (and a bit of luck, see below)... but RUJMM78 was right in saying the last couple seasons, they haven't made it to 20 wins (at least, if you're looking at their season number during selection time).

Their last three regular seasons have been:
2016-17: 18-13
2015-16: 19-12
2014-15: 18-13

Edit: Also, their 2015-16 Final Four path was very lucky.... faced #7, then #15, then #11 to get to the Elite Eight. To their credit, they overcame a 16 point deficit to beat UVA before getting housed by UNC.

They are in the best conf in the nation. And they lost to the 8th and 9th place teams in the BE (both at home, the sju loss was by 30) plus a loss to an average uconn team. They won 2 games away from home. Their performance last yr as a debatable invitee had to make the committee think harder about them. But they should not have been selected. And now they can play in Greenville again.

"decade"? I think they've been doing at a lot longer than that.

Yeah I thought so too, I wasn't sure. I remember sitting in my seats during the Waters years and complaining about their scheduling then so you're definitely right.

Boeheim can't retire fast enough for me. I think he's been an excellent coach, but he's also one of the biggest whiners in the business. They didn't deserve to go to the NCAA's. Yes, they won 6 games against top 25-50 competition but their road record was atrocious. And his dishonesty over the years has been an ongoing problem that caught up with him in the last decade.

Michigan State also played Arizona, Kentucky and Baylor early in season. Cuse lost to UCONN and Georgetown. Big difference.

I agree----just pointing out to the poster who commented on 14 losses.

Look back to the posts-----I predicted on Thursday they were out.

Good job. Good job on national board how Cuse played North Carolina once and Duke once. Played Pitt twice. Michigan State beat the Johnnies. Point was not even close between Michigan State and the Cuse.
