I'm thinking maybe 5300. Scared people, kids with no vax, students. I I'm thinking no band. They were not present for the 2 games last week. Stupid piped in RU fight song. Maybe they think virus blows out thru the tuba?

We could have the band if they did what they did here:

Agreed. A lot of people or those they are in direct contact are coming down with COVID right now. Has nothing to do with being scared for most.

Plus there's the extra hurdle of getting a negative test for those that are not vaxed. We all know thats somewhat a challenge right now given the long lines and delays on getting results. Plus having the time to go get a test within a few days of the event.

And the real kicker is .. students aren't going to be on campus this month.

Actually any kind of virus is projected much more coming out of any wind/horn instrument. Simple physics.
Simple solution would be just test band members, like players & staff.
Wearing masks, then taking them off to play instruments would be ridiculous.
They at least need to get a better recording of band, when players enter, before start, etc.
Crowd energy will not be 100% for our first win ever over Michigan!

Band was probably with the football team, assuming they will be back. Michigan has a big NYC alumni base, I would say probably closer to 7k

I dunno if it's been reported on these boards or not but RU is now requiring all students to get their booster shot for the Spring semester by Jan 31. This impacts our youngest who has never gotten his booster.

He’s at least 18 ? Can make his own decision , but if I was paying the school I’d withhold my next payment and look at transfer options.

5K or less, hopefully I am pleasantly surprised

No concessions and vaccination or test mandate for kids will torpedo alot of attendance

the concession thing needs to be figured out. is RU the only school in the country doing this????:
I'm with you, lots of cheap tix on stubhub still. Attendance will be weak.

I'd fact check that. My son's school requires a booster within 30 days of when they are eligible. Since he got his second shot over the Summer, he was eligible on the day he is flying back. So I just scheduled it for two weeks from now.

Also, your son can always just get a booster if he's eligible.

The talk of sellout crowds ended with the Purdue game. The combination of cold weather, covid cases increasing and students away on semester break make crowds under 5000 highly likely for the rest of the month if not longer .Crowd support is essential for Rutgers to be successful against more talented opponents.

I’m seeing some baby steps taken on all of this which could be for the better. First Fauci is saying children hospitalizations are over counted because they could be a kid who broke his leg and then tested positive for covid. That theory was “debunked”in 2020 so that’s a positive. Also another Dr just said cloth masks do not work. That’s pretty much what many thought all along.

I am still in favor of the vaccines. I have been consistent throughout. I think they and therapeutics are the way forward. We can’t mandate it. It’s like smokers who shouldn’t smoke. We can’t force them to quit. We can’t force vaccines. Just present the data and tell them to ask their Docs. Many people don’t go to Docs either so that’s a battle as well.

no science beyond this but all the schools are rushing to do it.

remember if you just got covid you really shouldnt be forced to get a booster right away

Lucky to get 4000 tonight:

No food

No beers

No concession stands

No one wants to sit there 3 hours breathing their own air wearing mask that does not work

Depends on which strain of covid u got.
Delta and predecessor infection does not offer protection from Omni.
Omni does seem to offer some protection against others. We cannot do sequencing on every one. Beware of nuances

I recall reading that Maryland was doing something similar for the time being, limiting concessions as well. Others have instituted vaccination policies but only with a brief search see Maryland doing a concession limitation at this time. Upon review says once their vaccination policy kicks into place which is 48 hours for a negative test (good luck with that turn around), starting next week concessions back open.

No real universal BIG policy around it and seems to just be left up to each university. While I admit it isnt ideal to create a true RAC environment as booze always helps, it beats the alternative to me atleast of not having any crowd and not seeing the game in person. I think once the students are back hopefully at the end of the month than we will return to a close to normal RAC home game environment.

So are all the deaths that counted as “due to COVID,” but were actually something else (well along…) that got hit with COVID, going to be adjusted now? Or has Fauci not “circled back” to that one yet?

What constitutes “full vaxed” for tonight’s game? I’ve got 2. Does that make me fully vaxed? What a freakin mess

I do. Game is 2 hours.
I guess you are too weak to sit for 2 hours with a mask. It’s not like anyone is making you plank for 2 hours.

people are so soft that they can’t wear a mask for 2 hours. It is very easy. Health care workers can do it for much longer.

Transfering going into his last senior semester isn't very viable at this point.

GRF is spot on here.

Do I think Holloway is an absolute coward ? Yes.

Do I think people like @Proud NJ Sports Fan and @GoRutgersGo are being ridiculous?

The ushers aren't going to come sprinting over to you with a gun pointed at you if you have your mask down for a little bit. If you hate it so much, move it down every TV timeout for 2 minutes or grab a water bottle.

Totally agree this whole nonsense is affecting everyone. Weird times we live in. But still will be there and hoping it’s somewhat of a decent crowd

I really hope RU wins but if they lose a close one that was winnable with a louder and more hostile crowd, I’m going to blame RU administration and the fans that have pushed for mandates and restrictions

Yep. thought Freshman.

Booster not required...for that matter only 33% of the country is boosted

Yup, my primary doc told me I shouldn't need the booster for 90 days after having COVID in October (despite our double vaxx doses). Not to turn this into a political pissing match here, but our biggest objection is changing admittance policy after the fact really has students over a barrel, seeing how few students are willing to transfer schools midstream into their college years.

It’s not all political. Yes NJ and RU are liberal but this is about being cautious and covering our backsides IMHO. God forbid something happens to a student or multiple students. It seems like overkill to me but my company and many others are doing the same.
