I have no idea why Bruce got let go but he was the best announcer RU has ever had and Carlin while a good supporter his voice is like listening to nails against a chalkboard with his tone and pitch. Sounds like amorning DJ in Omaha or something announcing sports. Bring back Bruce or someone else new.

"Off the rim - and in!" - Bruce Johnson.

Worst description in sports history.

In this day and age how many times does anyone actually listen to play by play of a basketball game anyway? Every game is on TV for the most part. Only listen to Carlin to hear the post game interview if at all and you don't need pipes to do that.

Bruce Johnson was an excellent FOOTBALL play by play guy, in my opinion.

But he was terrible with basketball. He just could not complete his commentary and play by play descriptions fast enough to keep up with the actual play. Basketball was just too fast-paced for his style.

He was the voice of Rutgers athletics when we were a small time local program. Now we are a big time national program that performs like a small time program..Come back B.J.

That's because he talked to much with the silly cliches and corny phrases

He was our guy!! Great listen. Bled RU red as much as anybody. Mulcahy let it happen. Should have been an AD and told Greg enough is enough. Karma came back to bite Bob big time.

When Bruce called bb games, he painted a picture so I could envision what was happening on the court. With Carlin, I never know what's happening.
Funny, I thought just the opposite. I had no clue what was going on when Bruce was the play-by-play man. I think he fancied himself a Marty Glickman type who could invent terminology and have it be meaningful. As far as I'm concerned, it did not work. However, Lloyd was a great analyst.

To this day my fist is still sore from the constant banging on the wall after making a call and contradicting it 1 second later.

He was describing game as it happened. Before TV it was great. Loved walk no call... Made you feel like you were there.

Anone have access to recordings of Bruce doing our games? I would love to listen him again.

BINGO!

Greetings from Olean, NY. It's not the end of the world but it's close. (Or was it, you can see it from here?)

I remember that one..I used to tape from the radio way back. i think I might have that St Bona rally where they came back from 18 down in the first half to force overtime and win. The problem is finding a tape player

Totally disagree!

I thought Bruce was great at basketball, and terrible at football.

To each his own!

Bruce Johnson is a East Brunswick guy which I like .His memorable play calling leaves fans laughing and remembering games which doesn't happen with many announcers.

At the same time Carlin is entrenched at Rutgers as seen at the press conference for Pikiell .

New Era deserves a new announcer, as Carlin was passable for AAC level but B10 needs us to go better as Coach Steve Pikiell will move into a perennial top 25 team in the nation I think it is time to call Bill Raftery
