made a huuuge difference on this team. Put it this way: he made Thiam look like a decent offensive player last season. He would have had a field day taking it to the hole against a team like NW with a gimpy guard like Vic Law. Corey would have been doing kick outs to Geo, Kiss, Thiam, Harper and McConnell all day. He was in elite shape to play 30 plus mins/game at PG too. Damn it. Corey would have been known as the RU player to crack the .500 record mark to facilitate a NCAA RU team the following season. RU has at least three more wins already with Corey.

Wonder if Cory and Pike think what could have been. Dude would have been great for this team and the program. I guess established winning programs take care of issues like Corey had with bags of cash to stay another year.

All very good points, but let's drop this please. Corey is NOT here. And woulda, coulda, shoulda is over now. We have what we have and going forward we are bringing in more pieces to shore up the PG position but we still need a catch and shoot kid that can knock down threes at around 40% especially in endgame situations. Last night Collins drew up a play to get Ryan Taylor open and the 24 year old grad transfer from Evansville didn't disappoint. We need that kind of kid on our team. Right now we don't have anyone who can do that with regularity.

Part of the reason bringing up again is because of the clear digression of players like Thiam. Corey’s play opened up the game for others and we’re seeing the lack of a true pg affecting the team play now.

Like our youth though.

Satnom, no doubt Thiam has regressed. But I don't blame the coaching staff. The kid is a quiet kid and if he doesn't hit a shot, he disappears. Sadly, he is not the answer and I think for him he should transfer out to a mid-major where I think he can succeed. But not here.

Can’t blame Thiam’s regression on Corey’s absence. He’s had plenty of open looks this season and either hesitates or misses for the most part. Thiam still can’t put the ball on the floor and hasn’t gotten any stronger. That has nothing to do with Sanders.

My opinion:
it really isn't the need of Corey that RU misses, its the need of someone capable of handling the 1 , even if not a true PG.
Baker is out of position and it shows the way he's playing and how the team plays .
Corey added that element , which made the team better than if he was only a shooter .
Baker doesn't have Sanders ball handling skills and though a good shooter playing the 1 takes away from his real talent.

Young when he becomes eligible, next year, will show the same type of game Corey had and though a shooter himself, knows how to handle the ball and distribute when needed to.

If Corey was here...Mathis wouldn't be emerging like he is
Disagree completely. People here act like corey didnt know how to pass. Corey passed and dished alllllll day when we had guys hitting shots. When we went cold, thats when he took over by neccessity. Problem is we surrounded him with dogshit talent so he had to take over a ton. Can you imagine Corey Geo and Montez in transition? Scary.

Team is probably 11-6 with corey instead of 8-9 without him

He's gone. How many years are you going to say we would have won more games or made players better? They gotta leave sometime and let these kids develop on their own.

Get over it already!!! Corey was good but he didn't want to be here any more. He kept us hanging after his freshman & sophomore years if he was coming back or not. Plenty of schools have lost a player to pro ball. Woulda, shoulda coulda are not part of the equation. He made his decision and we should just move on. Enough crying already.

Ok I won't play the If Corey card cause he is indeed gone. But the difference between him and now geo being the guy is Corey would go off and win games.
Last time Geo went off was Purdue in game 3 of last year's tourney.
If we even had good game - bad game Geo we'd have won a few more.

The only reason I think the "if Corey" excuse is valid is when idiots start calling for Pike's head in the middle of year 3 of a historically bad basketball program rebuild.

If he was here, everyone has less pressure on them and I think this team could have been .500 on the year. His absence is a devastating loss for this years expectations but could help in the future with the expedited development of Mathis.

Our offense is putrid right now, no debating that.

However if you believe in kenpom or Bart we are actually much improved over last year

You guys focus on the Corey at MSG and forget the other 30 games.

Agree. Thiam looks lost out on the floor. He floats around the arc but doesn't have the confidence to shoot. He didn't add any bulk that would allow him to play around the rim. Smaller players can go around him. Is this Coach P. not game planning him properly? Should Thiam still be one of the eight men in the rotation?

Everyone is coming around to everything I said in November. I said it politely and did not speak in absolutes. Oh have times changed.

But it’s not the end of the world so long as the 2020 recruiting class is good. It just would’ve been easier to accomplish coming off a good 2018-2019 campaign.

Cory’s leaving was a clear case of subtraction by subtraction.

Duke, UNC and the rest of the name teams buy players. It’s well documented and the third party agents get paid too.

For hundreds of thousands of dollars.

RU can’t even afford a few extra porta potties in the scarlet parking lot. Last time I was there they had 3 toilets for 6000 people.

It’s 3 D chess vs. tick tac toe.

You are beating your head against the wall to expect anything to happen with these teams at your beloved university.
