I watched recent Youtube on Sanders last night.

He has had two shots at g league, and played on two teams overseas thus far.

Two things would have to happen for him to become a player in the g league.
1. His three point shot needs to have a lot more llift. He barely leaves the ground.
2. He needs a trainer and mentors that will help him develop his game. Right now it´s hist best friend.

He is enjoying fatherhood which probably was the most heart warming part of the video. Here is a kid that had a lack of parental involvement from biological parents. His daughter is his pride and motivation it seems. He is away for work which is probably not easy.

He was open about how confusing and hard life was post college. He said the game came easy to him and he was naturally better than people until now.

I will always root 100% for Sanders. I hope life continues to develop positively for him.

Pardon my ignorance since I don't follow pro sports, but what is the "g" league?

Thanks.

Glad to hear that Corey is doing well. He was a fun player to watch.

Too bad Canada doesn’t have a league that pays good salaries. I am not even sure if it is still around.

I’m still trying to figure out how his jumpshooting form has changed so much. It’s actually gotten worse over the years. In high school he had a nice looking stroke, including lift. It been progressing towards a Lonzo Ball jumpshot year after year. It was decent his Freshman year at Rutgers. I mean it goes in but now it looks full blown ugly. I would argue since Ball has been working on his shooting mechanics, Lonzo has a nicer looking J than Corey.

I root for Corey as hard as his biggest supporters. I hope he gets to live out his dream too.

Still feel like Sanders would have greatly benefited from another year under Pike. In a big big way. Both in life and in basketball.

It has regressed. I believe one of the problems is not having a real, established trainer. Hard to not enjoy Corey as a kid. He has such enthusiasm for life. One kid that I wish had better mentors.

99% of kids who play euro ball make the equivalent of $25-40k/yr. its a tough life. Unfortunately ball is all some of these kids know and they dont take their education post college seriously. Higher education is a joke anyway but thats another story

I think Douby made $ 2 million several seasons in China. As I recall he received $ 1.4 million for each of his 3 years in the NBA with 2 years in Sacramento and one in Toronto. I believe as a first round draft pick he was guaranteed $ 4.2 million. He did alright for himself. I hope he can complete his degree and maybe reach his goal of becoming a coach in the near future.

I think people really have no idea how little the $$$ is overseas. Most guys would legitimately make more working at mcdonalds.

He seems to be aiming instead of shooting.

There are so many very good basketball players out there. I think he needs to focus on playing overseas (his end game) or think about his career when basketball is over.

Used to be called the D League. I still call it that and always will. I try to never call arenas-stadiums by their Corp names. I always say and always will say Rutgers Stadium.

I'm with you on this. Especially where college bowl games are concerned. Corporate brand names come and go as sponsors. It is the geographic name that gives something its identity and a sense of place and/or tradition.

I am sure Coach Pike would be very enthusiastic if Corey finishes his degree after his basketball career ends. He did the right thing by doing what he can do now to support his daughter emotionally and financially. I can’t tell you how many girls I have worked with over the years who got involved with worthless trash who were never around in any way for their children. Corey can still get his degree in the future. We all probably know people who for one reason or another didn’t get their degree when they were 22. I know a woman who had four children and she took classes for 17 years, but eventually got her degree.

Well, I checked and it looks they have two leagues-the National Basketball League of Canada and the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Looks like many of the guys make $10-20,000 a season, but the season is only a few months so I guess they could play in another league in another country in the offseason. I think some of the WNBA players do this.

Not true, Average salary is 60k a year. So by definition your statement is incorrect

He had a very good season this year overseas he’ll keep bumping up in leagues and salary if that continues. He’s doing alright for himself. Incredibly hard to find salary info overseas
True and some on the low end of salary totem pole might have their food and lodging paid by the team they are playing for.
But that type of info is also hard to find.
Did find this 2018 article:
The perks of playing basketball overseas
Other advantages are your team pays for your round-trip plane ticket to the country and back to your home at the end of the season; your salary is tax-free; the team pays for your housing; and you get to meet people from all over the world, learn their cultures and establish lifelong friendships.

Know plenty of guys who make nice coin overseas. Can be a huge adjustment, but even in the lesser league's it's not a bad first job out of college.

There's BS to deal with just as there is at any job, but if you're prepared mentally just to enjoy the travel experience it can be amazing.

Biggest thing is just making sure you get paid since team's sometimes decide not to.

that's the other thing, the "agreements" aren't worth the paper they're printed on. There are different tiers of leagues. If you play in the upper level euro leagues, yeah the money is pretty good and not bad. However 90%+ of the guys playing Euro ball make under $40k/yr doing so

What a great athlete. Really fun to watch. Being a great Dad means more to some than others. To me it means everything. If he can make a few million playing the sport he loves and be a great father to his daughter he will have won in the game of life. Seems like he is well on his way.

Million? I really dont think people are realizing how little the money is in euro ball

I agree the money varies. Still, your statements sound like absolutes. I don´t think they are clear cut facts. You are throwing random numbers.

A lot of professional athletes really don't make nearly as much money as people think. We all look at the elite playing in the highest leagues of their sports.
Vast majority are scraping out a living. He had a family to support.
Pretty much believe many should get that degree as a backup.
