No, no, no. I am a fan and had season tickets for a couple years back in the Sue Wicks/Regina Howard days, driving 90 minutes each way. I do have two issues with the program, though. For years and years, our recruiting in New Jersey is abysmal. I have been told the Shore players and coaches want nothing to do with the program. Every year I see the All Shore players and they head everywhere except Rutgers. While we could do much better recruiting in every sport in state, this has got to be the worst team. Let me say I have never met Coach Stringer in person, but I have been told she has little interest in marketing and selling the program. This affects both recruiting and ticket sales. The crowds are pathetic. In a state of NINE million, to get crowds of 2,100 is unacceptable. If she herself is unable or unwilling to drum up interest , then someone on the staff needs to. This is not football, where the sport sells itself. The night she got her 1,000 win, we couldn’t even get 8,000 to sell out our small arena? The coaches in the program make a lot of money, much more than wrestling, and wrestling has 3,000 season ticket holders and averages 5,000. I can’t imagine being a star player coming from half way across the country and playing in front of a small arena that is only a quarter fill. I have been saying this for YEARS now—go back to doubleheader’s for as many games as possible. As long as my schedule permitted, I always watched both games. Will some money be lost in ticket sales—Yes. However, you will have a significant increase in the number of early arrivals and later departees who will be buying sodas, hot dogs, pretzels, shirts, hats, etc. Ok, I am off my soapbox lol. Just my two cents.
