Conference 36 Question

First round, or quarterfinals if you will, were played last night with Stuarts Draft, East Rock and Page winning. Lee drew a bye as the number one seed. So those four now advance to the semi-finals.

But here is my question.......the papers are saying that just by winning last night, those three teams clinched a berth in the regionals, along with Lee having already clinched one. So does that conference really send FOUR teams to the regionals?

I am used to the idea that you have to win a semi-final game and then the top two advance to the regionals. All the stories about the winning girls teams said the same thing...that winning last night clinched a regional berth. Is that correct?

yes .. Conference 36 advances 4 teams to EAST regional .. was the same last year

Yes, top 4 from Con35 will play the top 4 from Con36 (the rest of the conference tourney is for seeding). The same goes for Con33 vs. Con34. I think this is the set up for the first round of the East Tourney. I am not sure how the second round is set up.

That's insane! Only 8 total teams go to the regional playoff in the west, and only 4 of those will advance to the state bracket.

Each region sets their own structure. Look at football. 1A East only had 12 teams, 2A East had 16 teams in the playoffs. Then in the higher levels it was even different than that. Plus with the whole cross-bracket, some classifications did and others did not.

I think every classification should be structured the same in each sport.
